How does Google know this unless they have some access to the databases of each of those sites/instances? Why would google have that kind of access?

So Google somehow knows which apps block certain instances, which generally get reputation among other instances & are quickly blocked? That's not believable.

Google removing apps with spam/malware is one thing, & not something people would actually complain about. That also doesn't apply to removing the fediverse apps. They don't contain malware, they're simply alternativ

One of the comments said it best: "Bad guy vs bad guy Privacy-invading ad giant flummoxed by developer-gouging overpriced hardware slinger. A plague on both their houses." I don't use either one, & never will.

There's a certain OS designed to look like Mac OS, which uses a pear as their logo. Obviously I'm not going to name them. I don't want to give Apple any ideas. It seems like any company with a fruit logo is in danger of a law

THIS is why I hate Apple. This company has nothin to do with Apple, so they have no reason. This isn't the first time they've done something like that either.

The point is DDG has insisted that they put privacy first, & don't collect user data, then (supposedly) in the interest of a small performance increase they introduce code that — wait for it — COLLECTS USER DATA. All they would nee

To me those interested in an alt-reddit are interested because they want an alternative to the echo-chamber that is reddit. Those you mention could be found on any site & just have to be banned.

The fact that Reddit is an echo-chamber is one reason I never joined, & never will, but there are some communities that would be useful like the android & kustom subreddits, the former of which already exists on Lemmy. I'm only

Exactly. Plenty of users care, they're just powerless to do anything about. The OEM's are so big A LOT of people would have to outright boycott them to make any difference, but even then where are the going to go? ALL OEMs do this
