Currently TikTok is the only one that is not heavily skewed to promote state-approved content.

A firewall is actually less powerful than an algorithmic feed that does the state's bidding.

You can always tell an intellectually limited programmer when their code requires thinking too hard.

You just skim over the API docs and learn the APIs. Grep can help look things up. Depends a lot on how many new APIs one is using and how non-trivial their implementations are.

This comment isn't false but it's very naive.

It's not contradictory. It can happen over a decade and still be a dramatically sloped S curve with tremendous change happening in a relatively short time.

IMHO it's expensive and not at all better than IRC, plus it helps kill IRC which was a core part of the public internet, open source culture, etc. I also find it annoying that the creators of slack pretend they invented something origi

Anyone who doesn't think $200/month is a bargain has definitely not been using LLMs anywhere near their potential.

Right. I'm imagining a tool that would let users impose choices such as the following: - Accept any certs trusted by Bruce Schneier unless they are not trusted by tptacec - Do not accept new certs for top 1000 domain names unless they

The simple solution would be to have independent entities offer trust assertions about CAs and to allow users to consider multiple entities' views in their decision about whether to trust. It's surprising this doesn't exist y

The secret sauce part is the useful part -- the local vector store. Anthropic is probably not going to release that without competitive pressure. Meanwhile this helps Anthropic build an ecosystem. When you think about it, function calling n

Positioning a large, armored satellite in low or mid-Earth orbit significantly enhances its strategic value for both offensive and defensive anti-satellite operations. Such a platform could serve as a pivotal asset in maintaining orbital do

Back in the day on Slashdot the Reiser/ReiserFS saga was one of the more interesting linux-related dramas. Seems like the other FS options in the kernel are now unequivocally superior and ReiserFS is completely obsolete.

I agree. I also have an M1 mini with 8GB of RAM and while I wish I'd bought one with more RAM, it work nicely when the task doesn't require much RAM. The incremental benefits of the M2-M4 are nice, but they do not obsolete the M1
