It is called a review article. Such a paper is meant to summarize the current understanding in an ongoing field of research. It is useful for researches who are not (yet) intimately familiar with that field. They might want to add contribut

The automatic language detection works much better if you give it a few words.

This is super interesting. I believe the general expectation was that convolutional neural networks would soon surpass recurrent neural networks in machine translation tasks, but this is an entirely novel approach.

I have been a heavy user of Emacs for six years or so. However, I never really got into org-mode. I use it for some simple notes and lists, but I never export them into any different format. If I want to produce a well-formatted PDF, I dir

I guess it depends on how common the name in question really is. In Germany, a lawyer named Dr. Andreas Shell lost a five-year legal dispute against the petrol multinational and had to hand over "shell.de" in 2001. Amazingly, in 1

I know. But as long as neither Fastmail's (great) web interface nor any mail client known to me builds an interface with them that is comparable to Gmail's labels they are really not useful.

I moved to Fastmail to avoid such issues. They are reliable and, as a paying customer, it is easy to reach human support. They also escalate issues to the developers quickly, if necessary. What I miss are some of Google's innovations b

This clunky contraption reminds me of the "Ultrabase", a sort of mobile docking station for the Thinkpad X220 and earlier -- only those offered way more connection options.
