This should be the case on the web, too. If I put together a blog post and someone wants to correct my spelling, it should be easy for them to suggest a correction (and see it when they read without approval.) Maybe you'd have to worry

Yeah. And the scales have to get pretty crazy before "rails on postgres with some in-memory caching" stops cutting it. Your average developer will never see it.

Bezos obviously knows how to run a company, but the only "brand" he has is (I think unfairly) "exploitative capitalism". If Bloomberg can't be president Bezos probably can't either. And probably wouldn't w

Exactly. Actions that spread information make the market more efficient, which is good for the business, their customers and the economy at large, if perhaps not for existing employees. The same goes for skills/training/policy. Ge

Talk about the title isn't terribly productive. I think the link to FP is on the money, though. A lot of code is easier to read and reason about as a pipeline (or DAG) of data transformations, usually as top-level functions on "ra

In C++ you could also make an object (per thread?) and use member vars instead of static vars. Also, if you're going to use static vars in multithreaded contexts doing this, better to write thing = 5; (via that macro magic) tha

I guess I'm not sure what "object" means in Java, then. In languages I'm used to, an object is a type of value, and values are things that you can store in (or refer to with) variables. The only vaguely object-like featu

Honest question: Can you write Class foo = String; in Java? If so I guess classes really are objects, if not I'd say "there are some objects that represent (or wrap) some classes somehow."
