I wish I could bind applications to slide out from left and right, I use slidepad on Mac which is a slide out web browser, and TotalFinder which has a visor feature for the bottom. Little things like this keep me on Mac to be honest

In Quake, the video game, a console would slide down from the top of the screen when you pressed tilde. Combined with splitting terminals its incredibly convenient to have 4 or 5 terminals toggle on a hotkey

You're not alone with this desire, and I still haven't found a good solution. I want to bookmark all apps and windows when working on something and recall them all later when I resume work. How is this not yet a thing when do much

I tried it out and it seems clear that vertical tabs without titles create too much friction for daily driving a browser where you have many tabs open, hover thumbnails or not. For a few years I have thought that Firefox could gain market s

I agree, file access via upload/download concept is friction on the user experience. I'd love to see serverless offline HTML applications with permission based file system access, because you can do so much very quickly in the bro

You can do a lot of things by dragging folders onto file inputs, but it is somewhat rubbish for user experience with the friction of getting files in and out of your app. Obviously it depends on what you want to do, but it seems a limiting

I also like single-file offline web applications, I'm hoping they become more popular with the FileSystem/FileWriter APIs now available in Chromiums (waiting on Safari/Firefox still however). I made a really simple offline HT

Does anyone know of a way to do this locally with Ollama? The 'chat with documentation' thing is something I was thinking of a week ago when dealing with hallucinating cloud AI. I think it'd be worth the energy to embed a set

It mostly works, but virtualisation (even on baremetal) isn't possible at the moment, some applications need special patches, and weird issues here and there for some situations. AMD hacks are a hobby for a lot of people

Nope. There's only ever been Intel x86 apple computers so x86 mac software is Intel specific. Most things work fine on AMD, but some things don't work without hacks, such as digital audio workstations, some adobe applications etc.

The only chance at GPU acceleration is passing through a supported dGPU (>= AMD RX 6xxx @ 14.x, no chance modern nvidia) with PCI passthrough. Intel iGPUs work up to Comet lake, and some Ice Lake, but anything newer will not work. Apple
