A few years ago I build a small application [1] using react-blessed [0] which is a React renderer for blessed which is similar to ncurses. I think it was pretty easy to create an terminal-based application with it. [0]: https://g

Sometimes also called a virtualized list (react-virtualized is a popular implementation). Perfectly fine if keeping a lot items in memory isn't a problem (it rarely is). Of course fetching a lot of data from a backend can be a problem.

Very cool. Is there some kind of library so one can integrate this into one's own application easily? Also, slightly related, Google Mail (and probably other products) has a "Report issue" feature, where I can take a screensh

Really good science fictions novels, especially from a computer science perspective (and if you like ants, spiders, octopuses).

This is explored in the novel The Forever War. Since the war had multiple battlefront (with vast distances between them) an attacker never knew if the particular branch of enemy was already ahead with their technology.

Theories about the galaxy going dark were also traded as some kind of currency in the story. Definitely one of my favorite books.

I am really thankful the Figma team is talking about this stuff (especially with regard to security). I think providing a plugin API so that other can extend their application is pretty smart and in general brings web applications closer to

I couldn't quickly find out if these features are now supported but what I really want is: - Actions can fail, but still continue (more like an additional success/failure status) - Manually triggered actions (maybe with parameters

Most "enterprise" application backends are still written in Java (and probably C#) combined with a frontend based on Angular, sometimes Reacts or older technologies. I am not aware of any Node-based backend at any of our customers

For what it's worth, I can confirm that a lot of backend developers look down to frontend developers, but if you dig a little deeper you often (not always) see that frontend development is simply intimidating to them and they rather st

Save navigation and equals/hashCode (as protocol, not using that ValueType thingy) are fine and definitely useful, but otherwise we should avoid adding even more syntax elements to JS.

Can you elaborate? – A coworker is recommending that book to me. I don't want to waste my time reading it if it's really bad. I am mostly into hard science fiction.

Good point, if you do authentication in your code manually (like verifying a JWT issued by Cognito) you could also directly invoke the Lambda from your client and completely forgo ALB saving even more money (at the cost of slightly increase

The way I read this, it's not exactly a substitute for the Cognito authorizer, which makes easy to use stateless session for SPAs, or is it?

Let's say I created a suitable color palette. What would be the best way to make sure the colors are used consistently? – Giving it names like primary_700 or accent_1_700 seems a bit too technical.

You can write HoC with working typings [1]. As far as I know the compose function is harder to type because of the varargs it uses (although I heard recent TS versions can actually handle that). [1]: https://medium.com/@jrwe

Recompose is not really compatible with TypeScript (no clue about Flow). Render props are a good alternative but the nesting made composing a bit cumbersome. Hooks are easy to type and compose quite fine it seems.
