I wasn't aware that there were different distinct forms of "open access", so I had to read it up on Wikipedia. From what I understand, publications on arxiv are either gratis or libre open access. Either way, we don't pa

It is note worthy that most of physics (at least high energy physics) ist published on arxiv.org and open access. I don't know if sci hub bothers with publications that are available freely from an official source.

I've used Google Authenticatior a few years ago. Back then it didn't support device migration.

Aegis, it's FOSS and supports encrypted backups. Migrating to a new device is trivial. Best of all: it even supports 7 digit TOTP that previously required Authy (I think Cloudflare and HumbleBundle use this variant). https://

Darebee is absolutely fantastic, and has been for years. They used to publish these one-sheet-workouts under the name of their founder Neila Rey and they have always been concise, ad free and low barrier of entry. They have been free the en

This is a rather contrived argument. In the rare instances that SO was down, I had to make do looking up the original documentation for whatever language I was using. But these scape sites add nothing of value at all, not even as an involun

That's what those countless convention stickers are for, they're basically a cryptographic hash of all the leet stuff you've attended.

There is also Aegis[1]. It's FOSS and available in F Droid and Play Store. Authy is pretty good, but doesn't support export of the secrets used for TOTP, whereas Aegis supports export to json and GPG encrypted json. I've been

Does the phone have to be rooted for this? I've only found one app that claims to emulate any USB VID and PID on f Droid and it required rooting.

I tested this with a Raspberry Pi Pico and it works. The usb device name doesn't even have to match, only the VID and PIDs. I used Adafruits circuitpython and changed these two to 0x1532 and 0x0084. After attaching the Pico to a Window

As far as I know, these middlemen are deployed by the respective ISPs and are not a core function of ipv6. I've had the 6to4 (or AFTR, I'm still not sure which) fail on my ISP and could only reach ipv6 enabled hosts, sometimes for

I know this is probably so much not your point, but there are assumed to be 10^80 atoms in the visible universe, and 2^128 is only 3.4*10^38.

How do ipv6-only customers reach ipv4 hosts? Wouldn't some 6to4 gateway count as CGN? I've had this problem in the past with Vodafone, sometimes their AFTR (?) would go down but all ipv6 enabled hosts were still reachable. Only th

I've been looking for something like this for numerous projects. If I can't write the code myself, I'd love to pay someone who can, but I don't know where to look.

In particle physics, it is interesting which fundamental interactions conserve parity, charge parity and time reversion. Interactions that do not conserve one or multiple parties are called "parity violating". In this context, in

I feel people who need to be above others, in pay and output, can be verz detrimental to a work environment. Yes, as long as a person contributes to a company functioning, they should be part of its success. And that means getting a raise s

That's a very good point! I removed the SIM and the app was gone again. So I guess you're right, it may be installed on the SIM and not actually the device.

Do any of the privacy oriented custom ROMs protect against that? I can't imagine their maintainers seeing code that just installs any app the ISP wants and be okay with it.

I wonder if this is the same functionality some carriers use to install their management app on your phone. For example, I've recently bought a second hand Samsung tablet. I've reset it to factory settings and put in a Vodafone SI

One thought I haven't seen here is this: Let's assume Bitcoin stays and keeps getting more valuable per btc. Due to the increasing price per khw, mining on the power grid is outlawed, and let's assume for now that law can act
