I use https://docs.rs/frunk/0.3.1/frunk/ to get around this in the meantime.

I wonder if Clang can do better these days; I noticed that it seems to merge computed gotos to normal-looking control-flow (I suppose this is necessary for alias analysis).

As someone who's not a fan of JS in the browser, https://github.com/denoland/deno is _shockingly_ nice for "script-sized" tasks that need more performance than bash+jq makes easy.

I think in context, the thing you'd be making harder is eavesdropping, not use.

I think the question being asked includes, "would existing symbolic execution tools be able to tell that e.g. a page-table was mangled"

vDSO functions are still allowed to use arbitrary amounts of stack though, which means Go might still have problems with them without having to allocate much larger stacks than it normally would.

My understanding (as someone who doesn't run nor code for Darwin, yet at least) is that it's totally possible to use the microkernely features in userspace right up until you need to do a syscall, and even then you can have a task

This is pretty exciting! I've been wanting to mess around with Darwin without having to own a Mac; FreeBSD features on a microkernel sounds potentially really nice. Trying to bootstrap up from the last available ISOs is terrible though

This seems really neat! The diagram in [0] has a typo in the header though, and I'd argue it doesn't make sense to use a chloropleth on states without normalizing for population. If this is something one can easily spin up, though

The VM that uses takes advantage of hardware-accelerated virtualization, for running amd64 VMs on amd64 CPUs. You don't have hardware-accelerated virtualization for amd64 VMs on any ARM CPUs I know of...

I think the goal is mainly to avoid people doing things that aren't useful to the amateur radio community on the fixed amount of spectrum made available by physics. (Well, and some Cold-War-era paranoia about foreign spies, but...)

I'm (slowly!) working towards an OS where every user-invoked application is a GUI, most applications are many processes (more like Erlang than Unix), and every interprocess interaction, including GUI programs asking the OS to be drawn,

I've never seen Smalltalk-style self-editing in a JavaScript framework; is there a specific one you're referring to? Or just the fact that it has eval()?

And, adding assertions / very loud logs is a good way to be sure your assumptions hold: e.g. causing your tests to fail if the test user's password (or other privileged info, etc) appears in any logs is a fairly good extra safety

Well, I think it's fair to say that "among the Unix-derived OSes, macOS is the one with the best hardware support for the hardware it typically runs on." I've wasted months of my life futzing with Broadcom WLAN cards...
