Sounds about right, Flipper Devices just released the Video Game Module which has a very recognisable port that is never referred to by it's more common name anywhere. Of course, they don't do HDMI 2.1 or anything advanced like th

For me it's how user-defined search engines work. In Chromium-based browsers you can just supply a URL-template, a name, and a shorthand, and you're off to the races, it takes 10 seconds to add one. In Firefox it used to be you ne

Fair enough, but you do get paid so that isn't a broken promise or anything, it's just not that much because their ad network hasn't really been much of an ad network. I had it enabled for a while, thought it was a great idea

I really don't get this hate Brave gets on HN and other tech forums. It's a de-Googled Chromium fork which retains support for Manifest v2 extensions and has a bunch of neat extra features like first-party ad-blocking, an (underus

Been using Brave since I think around 2019? Very happy with it, love the integration of IPFS, ENS, Unstoppable domains, and the removal of all the Google trash present in Chromium. Fully end-to-end encrypted sync as well. Don't use Tor

Right, and in iCloud backups you can choose to include or don't include iMessage data in those, is the iMessage data included by default?

Messages in iCloud is separate from the inclusion of the iMessage database in the regular iPhone iCloud backups. Could you check what that setting is set to on your newly setup device?

Ah, talking about effects (scenes, blinking lights, etc.) that run on the string lights processor, custom Zigbee commands, RGB controls is fairly standardised. But from all the praise Z2M is getting here I guess I'll have to try it! On

And how do they work in HA? Is there lots of setup with each entity because I have to talk to it over MQTT? I noticed that Z2M seems to say it supports effects on my string lights, do you know if that also means it'll automatically sho

I haven't really run across any devices that haven't worked in ZHA. I did recently buy the latest generation of Philips Hue Festavia string lights and Home Assistant (via ZHA) had no clue how to set any of the scenes on it. I wa

I've seen a lot of references to Zigbee2MQTT. If I'm going to be using it through Home Assistant anyway, why should one choose Zigbee2MQTT over say ZHA?

The sandbox and review processes are completely separate from each other. Technically if the review process was flawless Apple wouldn't need a sandbox in iOS. Yeah sure, things that attempt to break out of the sandbox will not be caugh
