Pretty much the only way to exceed 100W is to be running a high end gaming laptop, while actively playing games. A desktop equivalent(ish) quad core hyperthreaded i7-4700MQ that turbos up to 3.4ghz only has a 47W TDP, which is a worst case

I also did this, missing out on 100mhz of base clock (3.4ghz vs 3.5ghz for the k). TSX seemed like a once in a decade step forward, though as I understand it the restrictions with the cache size (and thus the amount of memory you can write

I'm a Clojure fan, and the syntax has nothing to do with it. The pervasive immutability, persistent data structures, ease of threading and STM mechanics are the good bits as far as I'm concerned. The language could have a Python s

Why on earth not? Accrue leave as normal, just allow the balance to go negative (or bottom out at zero). If it's positive when the employee leaves, pay them out.

Ah, that makes total sense. I was thinking about it from the perspective of the tax the entity pays, and didn't realize "donations" to this type of entity were tax deductible. That would indeed be ripe for abuse.

Are there not other protections against that? If your non profit suddenly makes $10 million, you couldn't just pay yourself that money, could you? Surely you have to be able to justify that your spending was aligned with the stated goa

Could you describe how this abuse would take place, exactly? R&D is already tax deductible. I could see that if you funded a non profit via income like Kickstarter, that would allow you to use that money over multiple financial years wi

Intuitively, this makes sense at human scales. But microprocessors are tiny . The i7 4770, which is in my machine right now, has a die size of 177mm^2. The die has a thickness of 775um, for a volume of ~137mm^3. Even if you made the whole
