Fascinating read. "[..] I had never been to California before, so I was discovering San Francisco, my favorite city in the US and second-favorite city in the world. [..]" Out of curiosity does somebody know what is PG's first

Thanks for sharing this. Especially on the page there is a presentation as well as several ports of this same program to other languages like OCaml, Haskell and JavaScript. Interesting to see that the OCaml version is on par with the C++ ve

It is actually not only asking questions. It is about asking open questions, i.e. questions that cannot be answered by yes, no, but require the person to tell a story. At the beginning it it is even more frightening, but once you force your

As an ex smoker I fully agree. I miss the fun l had during the smoke breaks with other people. After I quit smoking however unfortunately l quit as well the habit to make these fun and efficient breaks.

A presentation about Frege from the author itself: http://fregepl.blogspot.jp/2013/08/talk-at-karlsruhe-functio... Actually it is the link to the blog entry that contains a link to the presentation.

I feel exactly the same. But there are some cool projects around that do thinner the layers between software and hardware. Look for example Extempore ( http://extempore.moso.com.au/ ) or Hylas-Lisp ( https://github.

This question has been asked in the comments to the article and there is answer: "Heninger et al. did check their data for “Debian weak keys.” They found 4,147 such TLS keys and 53,141 SSH keys."

I tend to say that sed could be considered as a domain-specific scripting language usable to edit text. awk is a more generic language - to my shame I used it only for parsing and translating text - even without a REPL you can 'test&#x

Agree with you, without knowing F#. I guess F# is related to Haskell and in Haskell you have static types, but you need them only where the compiler/interpreter is not able to infer them.
