I'm not familiar with any of the mentioned companies but I'm curious, what exactly does make products such as Marketo "enterprisey"? Just more features that you don't need right now?

I was about to post about LinkedIn too. I am convinced it uses, among others, reverse view lookups. I have had suggestions for people I know whose LinkedIn profile I had never viewed or searched for myself; the only explanation is they had

The isinstance() criticism is in principle outdated after PEP 3119 [1] but in practice it is indeed mis(/over)-used more often than not. Compiling strings is usually a code smell but at least in the case of namedtuple I'm pretty sure it is

Well said. One would expect that more people here would understand and accept that not everyone has the same needs or wants for socialization at work or "a few drinks after", what with the "socially awkward geek" stereotype and all. I for o

This would be the ideal outcome but if meatspace strikes are any indication, affected people often resent or openly turn against the strikers, not those that force them to strike. It won't be hard to spin it as "Internet paralyzed after Wik

You conveniently left out the first part of the quoted sentence, "allow programmers to actually program infrastructure". Almost everything you wrote can be programmed these days without a "traditional" sysadmin.

False analogy. The guy doing 60mph does not compete with the one doing 55, and even if he was the reward is simply reaching his destination a few minutes earlier, not millions of $$$ that are at stake here.

The "positive" (actually breakeven) scenario is what the "71-94 roll" refers to in the OP. The more common negative scenario is if you "roll 1-70", I didn't dispute that. I simply did a half-full glass rephrasing of the 71-94 case instead o
