So I need to either start hacking the shell in Javascript or wait until someone else hacks it for me. If that's not user hostile, I'm afraid we have a different idea of what UX is. Besides that some of these add-ons cover functionality that

If their applications break because of an upgrade of IE (or even if the apps doesn't work with a different browser/operating system), I'm not sure their problem is with security. It's true that after the attackers got the entry point, there

Thanks for your answer! It's probably a country specific thing, but I looks like you're usually allowed to have some income that is tax free (up to a limit; ie UK income tax personal allowance is £8,105 for 2012 - as long as you total incom

I guess you're employed and you're looking for some extra money. I have a boring question I'm afraid: what about taxes? How does it work in Austria?

Seems to be related to the WebGL support. Here Chromium 17.0.963.79 doesn't work, but Firefox 12.0 works (actually, I think it's the first time ever a fancy WebGL thing works here). It's not playable though. I guess my graphic card (or the

Besides the blog content license is CC BY-NC-SA. That's copyleft, isn't it? Interesting choice for a person with a strong opinion against the GPL.

I've always been a strong advocate of Red Hat support, and it never ceases to amaze me how many free software (as in freedom, and as in gratis) that I use in my day to day exists thanks to Red Hat. That said, "self-support subscription" per

Yep, what I was trying to say is that the poll is about what is your primary operative system and not about the OS family. The classification is arbitrary, definitely. I'm not using "Linux" but Ubuntu, in the same way Chrome OS is a valid a

Then I guess Chrome OS is a Unix-like too. So it would be Unix-like or Windows. Eh, and other. EDIT: I don't agree with your classification. Sorry, Monday morning before my first coffee.

I always wondered if that popularity is tied to Apple devices. I mean... are there projects using Obj-C out of an Apple context? Other sources: http://lang-index.sourceforge.net/ https://github.com/languages

Actually that's my configuration of choice, being Spanish, I use a UK keyboard + AltGr and it's perfect. I find the UK layout more comfortable for programming, and still can type Spanish when needed.

It looks like PolicyKit is a little bit unknown, although all major distributions have been using it for a while. http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/PolicyKit The Wikipedia page works very well as TL;DR: http://en.wikipedia.org/wik

I think he made a point saying that lsb_release needs to spawn a process to get the result, while /etc/os-release it's just opening a simple text file and parsing it.

Oh, thanks. I was starting to feel weird because nobody was saying anything about the lack of tests. HN may or may not work as a code review platform, but I don't think I would use myself a 3rd party software that doesn't provide tests.

I always thought it was related to MSDOS compatibility. If I recall correctly cli, sti, in, out, ... are privileged operations in WinNT, but not in Win95. Why? Because these instructions can't work in virtual-8086 mode and need to be handle

I think ['a', 'a', 'ab'] is also valid, isn't it? So ['aa', 'ab'] would be one of the correct answers. (of course ['a', 'a', 'a'] it's not because the 'b' is not a valid word and it's not in the solutions)
