Haven't used it, but just looked that up, so take my comment with skepticism. I didn't end up signing up for that service because it seems like it will attract a certain type of person, so it may be yet another echo chamber on the

It’s a nice feedback check. I don’t post that often so I usually see how the last post performed when I log in the next day. Usually my posts are met with indifference. But it’s interesting to see the posts that perform highly negative or

You're not part of the target market, then. Think of it like any other recurring service, e.g., pickup/drop off laundry. It costs way more than doing laundry at the neighborhood laundromat and doesn't save very much time, ma

You don’t need a blockchain for a digital TCG, but it feels like you “own” the digital product more when it’s tied to a protocol like ERC-721 instead of some random developers implementation.

People on this site always neglect the positives of having a large homeless population in SF. The homeless keep a lot of boring tech people away from the fun bars and clubs around tenderloin, mission, and soma. The boring people all move t

Just because that’s true for most games, doesn’t mean it’s true for every game. I could imagine building a game where p2p trading is one of the core mechanics and I’m sure it’s already been done. Not my type of game, but maybe someone’s

There may be fewer, but there are still people making new podcasts, though! I really like this one weird local podcast called Bay Area Weekend, for example.

What is the difference between a startup and a business nowadays? I can start a business without an investment round, but not a startup? Is it a startup if it involves tech, a business if not? What if they use SOME tech, but not necessarily

This reminded me of a random story from about 5 or 6 years ago. At burning man I started talking to this guy who claimed to be an undercover FBI agent. He told me they used mass spec to look for big time meth dealers. They would scrape up s

It would be pretty cool to bring these competitions back. I guess it's tough because art cannot be objectively judged. But neither can figure skating or the high jump, so maybe it's feasible.

I found the conclusion to be my favorite part: Skepticism is a valuable counter to an unreasonably rosy picture of the world that only looks at the best cases for outcomes. While a positive attitude is essential, it’s often best to "ho
