What are you using beyond Chrome? The Open Sans web fonts render much better on my Mac with Chrome Version 30.0.1588.0 dev. Not that I'm a big fan of the font (too close to Arial, especially the 'R' for my antiquated tastes)

The gradle/groovy integration is of only slightly better harmony. It's very obviously a plugin and the lack of analysis makes for an awkward dynamic programming experience. For example, I dislike the yellow warning lines that abou

Most lenses such as this are rented for a number of reasons. For example, there's little need for ownership before and after a film is shot, so it's just an expense. The other is that a lens such as this will be awkward to use on

I was twitching on behalf of the 1AC in that dolly shot at the dinner table with an oblique angle. In fact, just looking at the credits[1], there was a dedicated focus puller on the film. The 1AC probably just watched the lens at all time

This happens a lot with old lenses meant for film. Amusingly, that was a desired effect at the time. It's even more appropriate for a lens made for NASA as a proper lens will render out of focus elements with sharp-ish edges. Refe

The underlying problem is one of reflection and restraint. Many comments and posts are made very quickly to get the "frist post" or count coup in some other way. There is a lot more to discuss about the Snowden/NSA brouhaha.

You need to cruise through the skin care center of your local cosmetics/beauty/whatever store. If you put in only enough water to keep things moving, rather than creating an unsaturated solution, sugar and salt work very nicely.

It's funny to read about the Microsoft developer culture now vs. when I left fifteen years ago. MSFT was the PayPal, Google, etc. of our generation in Seattle. It spewed out startups of FYIV people in a short period of time. At the ti

When you read about 'DIGIC', 'BIONZ', or 'EXPEED' in dedicated digital cameras, you're on the spot with custom processors. (In some cases, more than one) They're often multi-chip modules that can be

Definitely make the most of getting onto different boats. I am not a stinkpotter fan, so I am unlikely ever to own one, but it was a good way to experience all kinds of different craft. The 3d rendering in the original PC product was kind

Wow, congrats. My first "real" job was working on NavTrek when Nobeltec was a startup. Make sure you work out relationships with beta testers so that you can do a lot of onboard "tests". :-) That was probably the most f

Tough to do an inter-agency transfer (L1) if it's because you closed your international location, but they do have a distribution facility in Eindhoven and an IT center in Pune. (And probably more elsewhere, but I just looked at the &#

TeX is evolving with LuaTeX appearing to get some momentum. Given that almost no one uses TeX directly, I'd expect the biggest change would involve a gradual "improvement" in the macro library. It may even result in an embe

Am I reading this as a distributed, immutable, weak hash table rather than what one would consider a 'cache'? Mind you, doing so avoids the hardest parts of caching (and especially distributed caching, which otherwise begins to un

I love FedEx/Kinko's printer drivers for color work. Laminate, bind, etc., and have it delivered or pick it up a few blocks away. It's a good half step between "low-fi" and "trade show presentation".

The thing with west coast states (and others, but shut up!) is that, as they were "settled" later than other states, they tend to have very dense urban areas and very sparsely populated rural areas. This is OK in the House, where

True, while warrants are not necessary for the NSA to snoop, they don't like sharing with local LE. Depending on the quality of your local police, they have nothing to gain and a lot to lose.
