Reading the example code I learned enough to become interested in vanilla javascript. Although satirical in tone, I found it insightful. It lead me to question the necessity of using jQuery for every project.

I like the new navigation and layout better because I can find everything in one large column. Before I had to scan both up/down and right/left because of the multi-column layout.

Nothing, just an explanation of what I meant by estimate.

Clients sometimes want an estimate of how long a single feature or fix will take, even when it will take only 15 minutes. The communication overhead and time spent estimating easily outweigh the time to implement.

This is why I agree with the original article over these comment parents. I work in a small software agency for clients who would never grasp the Cone of Uncertainty. They are much closer to the pointy-haired boss type than the type of pers

At a hotel where they are supposed to register for you it might take 2 minutes. But in my experience it takes anywhere from half a day to a week in smaller city. Half a day is the minimum because you get directed from one place to another a

Who actually likes getting magazines from the cable company or car dealerships foisting other services? Isn't there room for a different kind of business model? Vimeo is a good example. Unlike Youtube, Vimeo doesn't advertise and charges

Since I've been downvoted without a response, let me elaborate on my concerns. I haven't seen the threat of application specific passwords (ASP) addressed properly. If an ASP is sniffed or somehow extracted from a device it seems like it's

That's exactly why I don't use 2-factor. It's only as secure as a single complex token. I use a password manager with complex passwords. I fail to see the added security of enabling 2-factor in this case.

I use watch to help me find repositories I'm interested in, but don't necessarily want to see notifications about. Watched repositories are autocompleted when you begin typing a name in the search field. So starring looks useful to me.

I don't see the connection. Should we avoid every open source project that was abandoned by one of its leaders? I think each spec/project should be evaluated according to its own merits rather than summarily judged based upon actions of cer

It makes sense, but it seems like they're holding cheap bait in front of you to get you to be more public with your information. I deleted my Facebook account over loss of privacy. Hope I don't have to do the same with this one.
