Reading the op's post and your reply, I can only come up with two possible conclusions: 1. The op is lying about his experience. He states he answered NO to question 2, which is what you claim to be looking for. Unless his answer to qu

For the record, I think op is probably speculating a bit. That said, I'm not sure how you can be so sure op's not losing money unless you have intimate knowledge of the cap table and the deal.

Wow, I was interviewing there in 2013. I was interviewing for a fairly senior engineering position. When they sent me the details for the on-site they sent me a role two levels lower. When I asked about it I was told the Director of Enginee

That's a really good question. I'm not certain of the answer. When I had this happen to me the FMV was slightly higher than my exercise price, but not enough to trigger AMT. I know I only wrote off the actual cash I lost, and I us

Probably the op spent $100k to exercise the options. It's likely this deal will wipe out all common shareholders and only the VCs will get anything. That's a $100k loss. The op will be spending the next decade writing this loss of

Serious question: Is there a reason to preface this post with "This transcript will not make much sense without the equations that I show in the video," rather than include the equations in the post directly? I ask because I canno

That's an optimistic take (are you being sarcastic?). We've seen something similar with company stores in mining towns during the 19th and 20th centuries. They weren't exactly known for treating their residents (employees) fa

If I follow you, you're suggesting I look up some of the obscure button sequences to press to force some hidden behavior? We did that early on and didn't get great results.

Ok, I edited my comment to clarify. I did not mean count to 100 as mastering counting. I meant count _almost_ arbitrarily high. And small world. My wife hails from Forsyth county.

I truly wish this were an option. I have an eight year old and a five year old. They play together wonderfully. But, since I can't let the eight year old have a gap year, I may as well have the five year old do stuff too. The real piss

"Ticket To Ride" is a nice, casual play as a two person game. "Twilight Struggle" is fun but much more intense. "Small World" is a super fun, ultra confrontational game in two player mode.

It's pretty much impossible for us to say in this case since the terms weren't disclosed that I know of. They've been described as debt and equity. It's reasonable to assume the equity component would imply a certain val

The other relevant point, in favor of RSUs is they usually have a double trigger for settling. One is service time, and the second is an equity event. Which is nice because you basically earn the RSU based on service time, but it doesn'

I'd expect the options might be under water based on recent funding announcements. Probably still expensive to exercise, but I can't see how there would be a tax liability if they are under water.
