I got bit by this when I bought a new iPhone recently, apparently the carrier "didn't allow" eSIM transfer so I had to go get another eSIM on my carrier's website. How does Android protect against this? The carrier someh

Absolutely true and a valid point, I’m just trying to add some nuance to the conversation. I’ve noticed the North American heavy online bubbles fetishizing Europe in that regard, and the reality is far more grim.

If you make $250k/yr+ in the US all of those problems melt away due to the availability of disposable income. In the EU you top out at €100-150k. I say this from experience as a European who's lived on both continents.

To be fair, in Sweden the taxes are also insane. I’d rather have to pay some middleman a paltry sum every year than pay 30% more tax just for the privilege of the government automatically calculating them for me. Not saying the US shouldn’t

Miele’s fridges have always been rebranded Liebherr IIRC. Hence why they’re reliable. Liebherr make industrial and aerospace refrigerators. I own a 180kg french door Liebherr with no touchscreen or other bullshit, just a fridge, freezer wit

The fact that I could figure out the writer was a fellow countryman just by reading the title of the HN post alone speaks volumes about this country’s obsession with math. I went through something very similar to the author (went to the bes

I typically cancel the subscription right after signing up, it’s more practical. 99.9% of services keep your account alive until your trial/paid for period runs out. The other 0.1% I never sign up to.

I think it’s simpler than we may think: don’t hire anyone who hasn’t pushed a git commit in a management position. Knowing code is the new knowing how to read and write, we should be less tolerant of “non-technical”, “in English, doc!” type

This whole "article" sidesteps the problems at the core of the issue: housing, income, and taxes on income. There's only so much you can do with a welfare state and Germany hasn't even exhausted that, take neighboring De

Very well put, RTO guys are basically a religion. Once again assholes are finding ways to coerce other people into doing what they want to do. No room for live and let live.
