What I do is have more strict rate limits for non logged in users. You tell them to log in if they hit the rate limit. For non logged in users, you have a rate limit not just for IP, but also for /24 and /16. Forget about IPv6, IP

As soon as you get your TLS certificate you get bombarded with scraping. You don't need someone to "point a scraper at you". What matters most is usually how much there is to scrape. If you have like 5 pages that's nothi

You get downvoted for these opinions but I agree. Most people that complain that their servers get hammered by AI bots are those that run very unoptimized servers that can only handle like 100 rps. I've never had any issues with any of

Small models don't have enough parameters to memorize the entire internet . For very common prompts you don't notice that, but when you rely on some niche knowledge that might only appear once in the entire web, a single blogpost

v3 is the first version that was made with the intention of being used for actual payload delivery. The versions before were about testing and proof of concept.

If you can afford it, I'm sure anyone developing a rocket would prefer to do it this iterative way. I don't really understand the complain.

The spreads on most markets always seemed like a hint that polymarket transferred wealth from the impatient that don't really understand how it works, to those that play mostly as patient market makers with just an educated guess. The

> The last/marginal ticket in the venue sells for 10x face value. That's only if the event sells out. The ticket should have sold for a higher price such that the demand was exactly the number of seats available.

It's not a tremendous externality. It only affects a very small group that lives nearby. A tremendous externality was leaded gas that was everywhere.

I wouldn't call noise pollution a "tremendous externality". The gas turbines should just be placed far enough from where people live.

What's the tremendous externality of gas generators? People heat their own homes with natural gas and it's no big deal. How can a datacenter that is miles away be worse than that?

Assuming renting their datacenters doesn't cost them any more than running them for themselves, and plugging 15B a year of revenue (which ignores X entirely and other forms of revenue) you get 5.4B income, more than Starlink 4.4B incom

The area you need in radiators is only half the area you need in solar panels. So it's definitely not a deal breaker. Its still very dumb because of economics, logistics, serviceability and more.

Why would they spend 10B and potentially 60B in cursor if they were to shut xAI down? And I'm pretty sure Elon wants to have a model of his own, even if weaker, so it's "not woke".

He is proving that the article is based on false information. Prices going up or down depends on what labs decide and what users demand. Strong models being profitable at lower prices than what frontier labs offer is a fact.

Vision is still much weaker than text for LLMs. So you could argue we already have AGI for text but not vision inputs, or you could argue AGI requires being human level at text vision and sound.

The Turing test ended up being kind of a flop. We basically passed it and nobody cared. That's because the turing test is about whether a machine can fool a human, not about its intelligent capabilities per se.
