Still doesn't make the metaphor make any sense. If anything, it is proving the exact opposite point since when it comes to programing languages/environments the difference in speed is much more comparable to the 10-30ms from the e

Someone did a PR[1] with something similar. He also found a way to speed things up by creating a Proc first and feeding it to the eval instead of the string. [1] https://github.com/thisredone/rb/pull/2

Funny, I worked under the speaker when I was employed as a Ruby coder for my first job. We were a two-man team. I wish he'd gone deeper with this presentation. Imba looks quite fun but it doesn't seem to have enough going for it

Jordan Peterson, whose being referenced here explained what he meant[0] and it doesn't seem unreasonable. It's uncharitable to jump to a conclusion here without going beyond our presuppositions. [0] https://www.youtube.

I feel like there's a very real synergy possible here. Keybase has a solution covering security, identity, chat and multi-device usage that could be very interesting when combined with a crypto-currency like Stellar Lumen. I wonder wha

Considering that as we age we lose some of our neurons - even if not _because_ of aging itself but for other reasons such as drugs or disease - there still could be an observable difference in both 'plasticity' of our brain and ou

No, Nokogiri isn't capable of that so you need an actual browser runtime. I didn't think a downloadable site would have javascript populating the page with data. But if it's only from JSON embedded in the JS from the HTML the

Well that depends if you're stuck with Javascript. There isn't anything simpler (that I'm aware of - bu I do web scraping/automation professionally for about 6 years) than watir[0]. PhantomJS doesn't even come remot

Why would you need PhantomJS for that? Can't you just parse the HTML files with Nokogiri and be done with it? That would be orders of magnitude faster anyway

Well with Chrome going headless there isn't a whole lot of place for PhantomJS anyway. Or is there? What is it still good for?

Copying and pasting whole articles doesn't make your point any more valuable. It's not a historical fact that what you pasted in is a response to the article I linked to because the two happened in a reverse chronological order. Y

I read the article. It's a technical overview of a website designed to scam users. It doesn't reflect in any way that IOTA as a tech is insecure. Your claims are not related in any way to the contents of the article, are overreach

Some of the points of the article, albeit not new, still stand. The coordinator and the evident immaturity of the network as well as the tech are off putting. At the same time I feel like this write-up, and also a lot of the attitude here o

The title is click-bait and also somewhat wrong since the vulnerabilities discovered are curl-specific not IOTA in general and also they no longer exist since IOTA has moved to Keccak.
