Congrats on launching! I'm curious why you decided to focus on native desktop apps before mobile apps. For me, a note taking system is a non-starter without a solid (Android) mobile app, as much of the value comes from quickly jotting

A lot of information can be transmitted through non-verbal communication (e.g. facial expressions). Do you look at the faces of other people on the call with you who do have their cameras turned on? If so, why?

I'm curious, can you share an example of what you mean? My experience has typically been the opposite.

This [1] was the most sobering article I've read on this question. I really hope it is too pessimistic. [1] https://www.technologyreview.com/s/615370/coronavirus-pandem...

Haha, why? If you have enough channels to need that feature, you should probably already be paying (in terms of how much value you are getting out of the platform). This seems like a subtle nudge to push some over that threshold.

I think the arguments here (and in the article) are largely missing the truly valuable point. For most businesses (not necessarily for Facebook, or even other mass-market consumer-facing companies), the decision of native vs. web is not

Thank you for posting. I've been thinking about this lately and had trouble articulating it. I knew that there had to be some established thinking out there around this approach to design, and now I've found it!

> "Maybe its naiveté or maybe just being on teams where, remarkably, nobody knew how to do an effective standup (myself included)" Nailed it. Please don't "ping me on slack" to find out what I'm working on.

Refactorings are but one feature of Resharper. The code hints/suggestions are still far better than vanilla VS, unfortunately (imo).

My experience is exactly inverse to yours. IMO Azure's documentation, in general, is far superior to AWS's. And my experience with Azure support has been stellar.

If you use a framework (like Angular) rather than a library (like React), things become WAY less complicated.

I cannot believe how much I love the term "bozo explosion". I see this situation all the time as a consultant, and now I have a fantastic term for it. Thanks for sharing!

1) Notifications are much better. Taking direct action to read and archive/delete emails directly from the notification is great. Not sure if iOS has this yet, but last time I checked iOS Notifications were primitive by comparison. 2)

If you had an Android mobile app, I would consider using this. I currently use OneNote's "quick note" function (launched via Win+N on Windows) for this purpose, synced to my phone. But it's not quite as organized or hand

I think a good analogy might be using MySQL for storing a single key/value. You could do it, but why? Instead you could just use an environment variable or simple file.

This looks really good, but... There must be literally 10+ free/$1-5, high-quality, "don't break the chain apps" on the market. Why would I pay a monthly recurring fee for one? What makes this app special?

I literally laughed out loud sitting here at my desk. JetBrains IDEs are many things, but "lightweight" is not one of them. Electron does not have a monopoly on bloat.
