The particular one you linked to ended up behind, but could've been way ahead if they stayed open for another 6 months until the pandemic hit. Original: https://www.wsj.com/articles/mall-short-seller-shuts-down-be.

Exactly. Thinking about this starts to border on paranoia, but if the document is written by a sufficiently determined organization, it's all possible.

You can take additional measures, but you can never be sure that you've avoided all forms of watermarking. As an extreme example, suppose a company distributed 4 versions of a document to employees, each printed in red, blue, green, or

I have no knowledge of old-style satellites, but have worked on cubesats (low earth orbit) reasonably recently. Star trackers give you location in orbit and orientation of your satellite. I don't believe you can get absolute time from

Not quite true - ISOs can incur AMT at time of exercise, which is kind of complicated and doesn't always create a tax burden. In the $100k range, it probably will, but they'd have to do the calculation to find out. https:/&#

I personally didn't like this change because it removed the tiered nature of the paid platform. Previously, you could mix and match 3 feature packs, at $2/month each. Now, they've combined it into $5/month flat, regardle

Something doesn't parse for me in your second paragraph - CAN HI and CAN LO are 2 parts of the same bus (each bus has 2 wires per the differential spec) and so of course they go to the same device on different pins. Am I missing someth

It likely refers to the popular STM32F4 Discovery board [0], which is a devkit for that family of uCs. Good for prototyping, has an onboard programmer and everything. It has 1MB of flash, so I think this line means "if you wanted to us

The first link mentions transfusions, but it's really just another comment on Slashdot saying that they heard that some doctors are thinking about hemoglobin-based causes. Nothing concrete or sourced.

While I mourn the loss of cheap and quick options in SF, I didn't lose much sleep over that particular restaurant. I had sporadic access to the back-of-house at that BK for various reasons (that I won't explain here) and I'm

Heartbeat would hopefully also include a counter, so that a locked input signal would result in the vehicle rejecting the heartbeat (sees that each message is the same instead of incrementing the counter). No guarantee that's how they

How can it be one-way if you can push new releases to the device?

1. Any concerns about privacy? Even if Memfault is one-way (as you mentioned in a different comment), that doesn't mean that important user information is not exposed. Battery SOC and last-seen stats aren't completely harmless. 2.

Google's is much worse for any significant number of files. It burns a bunch of CPU/battery like you described for Dropbox, but it also freezes eventually and has to be force-killed. I gave up trying to sync my former Dropbox file

Some Starbucks did this for a while as well, provided adapters for USB micro / Lightning and had chargers at the center of every table. Not sure if they still do.

This is similar to the idea mentioned, but again... requires you to be logged in and tracked. I liked the first implementation of it, not sure about the current form. https://contributor.google.com/v/beta

In the SF Bay Area, Caltrain is aboveground and is more than quiet enough to call into meetings. Think NYC's MetroNorth, there's no reason you wouldn't be able to make a call until you get into the tunnels near Manhattan. On
