Which is also why you get Google results in your own language, even if you're in Japan. Google receive your requests from an IP address in your own country.

That's the sad thing: Apple decided to leave all Intel macs on broken macOS 26. Very bad on Apple's part.

Until I can have all my keys as cleartext in a text file, I won't use passkeys.
42.
by reddalo 3mo ago
Exactly, I always refuse to add a passkey because I'm afraid I won't be able to easily login again. Also, I don't want to be locked in to a vendor.

> Linux is the only oddball here, I had issues getting this flow to work. Take a guess why. Passkeys are just a trick for vendor lock-in disguised as a security practice.

You just need to start teaching kids the metric system. Then when they'll grow up the switch will almost magically happen by itself.

I can't wait for Europe to come up with an alternative for Visa & Mastercard. European business pay a "hidden" tax to the US on everything, in the form of Visa & Mastercard commissions.

Luckily tools such as uBlock Origin let you block all those nasty scripts, _including_ the cookie banner themselves.

Desktop Chromium is Chrome. iOS Chrome is just Safari with a different interface. Apple doesn't let other browsers use their own engine on iOS (unless you are located in the EU).

Apps took off because Apple did everything they could to make PWAs work badly, with no reliable notifications, no access to some data, etc. Apple did that because they want their sweet 30% from in-app purchases, which they couldn't enf

The first version of the .doc format was actually a memory dump, which poses security risks and that's why modern Office refuses to open pre-Office '97 .doc files by default.

Give it a try, Immich is truly wonderful. Rich in features, polished UX, it's now better than Google Photos.

Tesla is more of a technology company than a car company, that's why they managed to make a good UX. Classic car makers are not able to make decent UIs. Plus, each car would be different. So I prefer Android Auto: it's always m
