Quite possible. I am not well versed in Chinese holidays, but from an American perspective the timing implies they wanted to meet Christmas demand before adding in such a large market. Thanks for your perspective though, I guess I have a li

I wonder if this was timed precisely so they could meet demand in the rest of the world for Christmas. With that rush obviously ending on Christmas day, they start taking orders for China Mobile on that day.

Google could utilize this to make some seriously sophisticated estimates on the revenue a company/store is doing. Therefore the stock market would be similar to shooting fish in a barrel. As I understand it, if it's legal/acc

This has to be the first article I've seen where they actually excluded Apple from the title edit: Not sure why Apple is included at the bottom but seems to be the only company there that isn't listed in the top set of logos. Not

You have to tell it where to go. Presumably from something similar to a search interface. That will absolutely have some recommendations on it.

I think there are a few things at play here that should help you to feel better. Firstly, you're reading a website that is targeted at affluent tech workers. Who's most likely to market their product here? Second, the whole world

I don't see how. Whether you buy it from Nike or (insert lesser known shoe company with same policy), there's really no difference.

The same argument could be made for an advertiser peeking into your windows at night and watching you in your spare time. Eventually you have to draw the line.

Seems really cool technologically, but I just don't get it as a consumer. $100 so I can carry less credit cards that take up virtually no space in my wallet? What am I missing?

I wouldn't trust a service like this, although I know many people will (or just won't think about that aspect). The main point I'm seeing from this is that it devalues the Snapchat service immensely. I know there are other se

I think the additional $2 billion in value was created by showing they have a strong enough brand that a competitor can't throw together a clone quickly and take away their market share.

This is why I've started using Twitter more. All I want from my social media feed is a quick update on what my friends are doing. Twitter is simple and to the point. Facebook has evolved to a point where it's terrible for real-tim

Yeah, it really is some extremely valuable data. I've always imagined what a goldmine the data Alexa/Compete gather is on up-and-coming websites.

This had my hopes up for a web analytics competitor to Google. Has anyone found a free service (or relatively cheap) that outperforms Google's offering for web?

Share price is an irrelevant number when you aren't taking the shares outstanding into account. Oracle's market cap is $159B, Tesla's market cap is $17B. Oracle is worth nearly 10x Tesla currently.

Which would you find more important: protecting your ~$5mil business or proving to anonymous people on the internet you're not lying? Food for thought.

Agreed, if your use case requires precise delivery times then it won't work. I also would love a delivery estimate API, I wonder if they could make that happen.

Isn't that what will ultimately happen? Once a business has the financial incentive to optimize how it's done they will eventually get to automating it when that is possible/economical.

You're ignoring the most important part, the victim. If a murder happens, the person who was killed would "notice".
