That’s cool and all, but I never commented on if it was impressive or not. Just was pointing out user numbers and that the average Hacker News commenter’s bubble is not representative of how most of the world uses social media.

Not sure how that correlates with usage. Your personal experience isn’t a generalizable experience. Nobody in my circle uses Snapchat, yet it’s worth $27B… If anything, this might mean your circle is quite small.

The Steam Deck is awesome. One of the most beautiful pieces of technology I have ever used.

Dead on delivery? That’s pretty dramatic (and incorrect). 100M users in 5 days and it’s quite active today - very far from dead on delivery.

Reddit is pretty good too IMO. When I first started coding, Reddit people would be super helpful to me

It’s not incomplete though. It has all the components you need to fully build a full-featured functioning web application fast. I’ve shipped products with this kit without having to change much code because it’s very well-made. Don’t take i

You are welcome to do it for free. The entire point of an UI library is to save time.. you can technically build anything you want for free if you don't value your time. This UI library sped up my dev time at least two-fold. The compon

This is an unnecessarily rude comment. The blog post is much easier to comprehend both in format and in writing style than the actual paper, which also is, in fact, paywalled. I'm absolutely certain that the blog post is the better lin

Lots of cold emails and cold reachouts on LinkedIn/Twitter/Threads probably. Checking out research lab websites in universities like UC Berkeley is probably a good place to start.

Learning by doing is obviously the best way, but not every role has that kind of opportunity. You can build something on the side and scale it, but it's easier to just do that in a company :) I'm no expert on system architecture,

AI-generated images have an unnatural "smoothness" to them whereas reality is more imperfect. At least that's my hypothesis.

These are incorrect priors, especially when the mega-corp in question is Microsoft under Satya Nadella.

This comment doesn't make sense to me at all. I'm not sure that this is a valid comment at all. This is not a rumor. The article references a tweet made by Satya Nadella itself. It is an official announcement. The board drama no l

Less people is fine. People who watch for free (with ad blockers) technically cost more than if they just leave. I guarantee most people will either shell out for YT premium or just keep watching with the ads. People who watch ads > peop
