What about industrial IoT? Even if a manufacturer publishes updates, the clients would likely not want to change anything, often. If you have a plant with 1,000 units of gizmo-A and update them during a week-end and now 200 of them do not d

Yes yes and yes! I have been using a small Supernote (A6X) for a long time now and it has become indispensable. The hardware is good, the writing experience is excellent, a good calendar application, the battery lasts a long time, etc... Bu

One thing I find amazing is the diversity of UAP vehicles. It used to be saucers, then silvery orbs, tic tac pills, triangles with bright lights , and now during the hearing we learn about dark cubes in translucent spheres! I mean... how ma

At the speed of light, photons travel about 1 foot per nanosecond. In other words, a modern 2 GHz processor would have time to execute at least one instruction between the time photons leave the screen, and the moment they reach your retina

Well... OP does mention that SF has an operating budget of 14 billion dollars per year... I am pretty sure that _something_ could be done with even a small portion of that _yearly_ ingress of capital.

Interesting... Why not buy something like this instead? Granted the M1 mac will be a gazillion times faster and whether or not you actually need that speed for a home automation server is for you to decide, of course. https://ww

I have exactly the same issue with an Embody chair from Herman Miller. Not sure if it is the fabric or the piston, but definitely suspected static since I got the chair. The screen does not seem to age prematurely because of this.

Interesting. Now suppose some advanced alien had the power to advance _you_ to his level of sentience , thus cutting you off from everything you have known and loved, including your family. Would you let the alien do that?

Houses? Look at all the nice victorian houses built 100-150 years ago, for ‘average’ professionals. Solid wood doors everywhere, nicely finished walls , brass fixtures etc… Compare this with the garbage we have in today’s McMansions … and
