Well, free will is an illusion and the world is pretty much deterministic on the large scale, so the concept of "deserving something" would itself not be fair to begin with.

So how do you deal with UI containers that don't really care about most of the state, but still need to pass it on to their child components? It sounds like tracking this by hand ("what is needed where") could get messy, thou

This old article explains it perfectly https://whathecode.wordpress.com/2010/12/07/function-hell/ Over-optimizing for local readability can hurt global readability in the end.

They had a "feature poll" at a 1.1 event a while back, where one of the features you could vote for was "true immutability". Can't find any links now that explain how that would work though. I just remember that it

It's also funny when the design has some short placeholder text somewhere. Then the actual real text ends up being longer and won't fit there, or will look like crap.

Not sure what you mean by NPM packages, but I don't publish anything to NPM (not even a local repository). On the other hand, the client and the server obviously each have their own package.json, with their own dependencies, etc.

Same repository, 3 different directories (client, server, shared). This also makes it easy to have shared docs, dockerfiles, and other things needed for the complete setup on any machine. But you can also just do this with a git submodule f

Depends on the project, but most likely just Node + express + TypeScript on the backend (so no "framework" in the traditional sense). On the frontend, React + MobX + TypeScript. This of course means it would be a single-page appli

I don't think we're ever going to go back to that. Those UIs were pretty static, i.e. you only created the "initial state" in the UI designer, and then modified it during the application run-time (sometimes even creating

I've been writing quite a bit of TypeScript recently (which works similar to Go in this regard), and I must say I've become quite a fan of structural typing. Especially when you have features like union and intersection types (whi

I still prefer TypeScript for web frontend code, because it fits a lot nicer into that ecosystem (React, MobX, webpack, etc.) and the structural typing also feels better suited for that environement. Kotlin could however be awesome for cros

What's the point of having two names for each parameter instead of just one? Just allow using named parameters in calls, this Objective-C-ism is ugly as hell.
