I have developed many years in Ada. It is a marvelous language. Many mistakes are found during compilation. Very often, when it compiles, it works. Since Ada95, the multitasking features are really awesome. The overhead of the verbosity is

If you ask for a refund, I think you do not own anymore the work of the "bad developer". If pigeonly platform has anything in common with the "bad code", you have a copyright problem. I think you should have asked a part

When I remotely debug applications running in foreign countries, I always feel that X (and ssh -Y) are miraculous inventions. Unix gives a divine feeling of ubiquity.

design patterns have completely failed. Sometimes, they appear in my code, but knowing them has never helped me to code better. What helps me is to know language idioms and code patterns. It is a pity that so many teachers give such a devot

build change to require a C++ compiler is a no go. One of the reasons to install gcc on a machine is the absence of a descent C++ compiler. 20 years ago, the C compiler of Sun was completely broken and we were happy to have gcc.

good old C compilers did not have the bool keyword and did not have this silly undefined behaviour. Standardisation committees should understand that the quality of a standard is inversely proportional to its length.

Concerning concurrency, Ada is 30 years in advance over C++. The concurrency system in Ada83 was already more sophisticated than mutex and thread. Since Ada95, the concurrency system of Ada is really marvellous. The single problem of Ada is

Yes and it is a win win result: you have proved that you have access to the file, so dropbox has only optimized bandwidth.

I have enough computers around me to not need a smartphone. The single feature I need from smartphone is tethering. I am dreaming of cheap 5 button nokia phone (like my current phone) that would provide tethering so that I can use my cheap

I have worked on military communication software in Ada a few years ago. We had to encode and decode messages with a nested structure and irregular binary structures. These binary format were very well specified.<br> We have develop

Think about C++: not only legacy C++ was broken by each standard, it was also broken by each compiler releases. The change of compiler release was always a journey.<br> It is normal that introduction of a new keyword breaks legacy C

breakage of pre-existing code is really a poor excuse for such craziness. Seriously do you prefer an error message during compilation that is easy to understand and not so difficult to fix or a language so tricky that nobody can read the hu
