Increase the price of petrol. Many conflicts in the world are related to petrol. A significant part of military budget can be seen as a subsidize to petrol. There should be enough taxes to compensate all these hidden costs.

IMO, all the points comes from 2 basic rules: 1 KISS (keep it simple and stupid) 2 DRY (don't repeat yourself) KISS being higher priority than DRY.

I remember it. It was far prettier than motif at that time. And Framemaker was so pleasant to use compared to Word. Both NeWS and NeXT were using Display Postscript ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Display_PostScript ). D

In 1994, when I started my carrier, the state of computer languages was bad (IMO) and I imagined that one day I would create a new language. I had many ideas. Some of these ideas appeared in java (interfaces). I was very pleased to discover

I know it is not correct to ad "me too" comments here, but I went here for the same quote as you. It is the best quote I have never seen about security because it does not depict a evil hacker that breaks a not secure enough wall.

Ssh is almost often available to connect through the firewall. Do IT people understand how easily you can work around proxy using ssh ? Just start a vm in the cloud (like a C1 at scaleway for 3.6€ per month), install squid (with default opt

IMHO, we should have increase nuclear power 20 years ago to avoid the current carbon pollution. Now, it is too late for nuclear. The future is solar power and it is quickly coming. The amount of available solar energy is enormous. In a furt

This article is very interesting, but I prefer to use sed or readlink /proc/<pid>/cwd instead of learning additional commands like rename and pwdx.

I would favor "dig en.wikipedia.org +short". I think it is installed by default (ubuntu, redhat). It does not require string parsing.

I fully agree. A phablet, a bluetooth keyboard and a cloud hosting (I use scaleway) is enough for many kind of development (web, command line, ...). I am switching from emacs to vi mainly because of this setup.

IMHO, calling it cheap is very exaggerated. It is already expensive at $109.99 compared to the simplicity of the product and the low cost of production and research. At $600, it was insane.
