Really great stuff for beginners. Thanks for the list. I'll forward it along to a few people who are interested but don't know where to start. However, it does look very python-django specific route on the back-end side. My su

I totally agree with this comment. Being able to value your time is a crucial life skill. Pulling in some overtime hours once in a while is a good thing. Being expected to do so every week is a toxic thing. Been there, done that. Start

Is it just me or are these attacks becomming more and more common? I hope we can get some more details on the attack like the origination of it, type used, and what steps were take to mitigate it. I always use information like this as a l

Agreed! Wish I could afford a Tesla car, maybe one day I will. But I always look forward to see what else they're doing. Got to hand it to Tesla for disrupting the standard industry.

Agreed. Reading it, looks like OP is reading too much into things yet fails to understand that each person he listed, those folks have spent years understanding and developing. I fell into the same trap in the past. I started learning one

Honestly, I don't mind the whole offline thing. It means nothing. My gaming machine is online 24/7. Internet outage? I'll just go outside and play stuff. Computer games don't rule my life. My biggest gripe is how sm

It's pretty spot on. My wife did this so we could avoid pregnancy for first few years of our marriage, and once we decided to try for one, only took one month for her to get pregnant.

Same goes for PHP and Ruby on Rails. Hater's gonna hate. I ignore 90% of negativity on HN unless there is constructive criticism. I do what I like and there is no one out there that will change my opinion of it. Because if I was to f

Agreed. We should stop calling everything a "startup". This shit is getting old. Business is business. People do things to solve problems, and by doing so, they generate income.

Depends on service and how broad the competition is. I pretty much respond the same way as the author to discount requests. If I feel that the service I charge $250/mo for creates $250/mo value to you, I'm under no obligati

Totally agree. Though you can enable remote erase through Google, completely killing the phone may not be a good idea unless the provider has the ability to restore the phone. What happens if some underpaid and overworked CSR on the line

This writeup was actually a lot better than I anticipated. One of the key things in consulting that I learned over the years is that you're basically contracted to help and grow the business. You have to present yourself as an ally t

What the hell does that have to do with the current situation in Ukraine? Or did you just come here to troll with your anti-US bullshit?

I love XAMPP and I use it extensively for testing on a local machine. I wish they could bundle it with Ruby on Rails.

I had the same problem. Few things that I did was once my 18 month old is asleep, during the week, wifey will be studying for her pharmacy stuff while I work on side projects. This gives me couple of hours a day to work out a few things.

I agree 120%! Can't wait for this book to come out and give it to my daughter. Shoot, I remember back in the 90's when I was still in high school, the programming books I had were so dry that it almost made me want to quit for go

I think Comcast is doing the same thing here in Colorado. Lately, I've been seeing quality drop in videos where it shouldn't. Running speed tests or downloading from newsgroups I'm hitting 60mbps.

I finally registered just to show my full support over this comment. I found the title to be more of a link-bait than anything else. While I agree with the article that joining a startup is not exactly secure work, but what is? Joining a
