Amazon doesn't deliver most physical things to my (current) home, so all of my purchases are Kindle (impulse) buys. I'm guessing that for a lot of international readers the Kindle Store is the most important part of Amazon.

3 months or so. If the job has a trial period I definitely don't want to add all my colleagues before the trial period is over. I also don't like adding people who start at my company until I know that they're good at their j

I don't mind disclosing my current salary but wouldn't accept any job that's not a 15-20% increase. (Not worth the disruption.)

It could just test for many things and the "data science" could do some anomaly detection.

I have no data to back this up, but I would guess that college / university graduates also get married later in life.

At least it _sounds like_ they've been talking to other graph DB vendors about adopting (Open)Cypher. Who knows if it's really going to happen, but it makes me slightly more inclined to invest time in Neo4J's Cypher when I fi

My fantasy is probably limited by not being a biologist, but I'd need some more examples of what cultures I could grow with this. > Apps will be priced between $150 and $400, depending on the DNA program and number of components. Th

Rotary has the lesser known Rotaract program for 18-30s. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotaract Here in the Cayman Islands the Rotaract club is pretty active. (My father is a Rotarian, but I haven't felt like join

Very nice! I'm busy learning Lisp/Scheme/Racket via CS61AS online and was thinking how nice Lisps would work on Microsoft's TouchDevelop. Have you thought about building a similar UI?

Well, you could read the source of course, to see whether the photo data is sent to the server or whether the cert is generated client-side. And then there is this: https://github.com/bloombergmedia/whatiscode/

I'd like to second mailinabox, works nicely. Setting up the docker branch was not as straightforward initially, but most issues have been resolved.

I don't think any smart watch == jewellery argument works, because jewellery doesn't require software updates. There is nothing timeless about modern electronics that need battery replacements.

What I like about the VM-centric design you've adopted is that 'apps' are long-running by default. Sandstorm in its current form is not great for hosting internet-facing sites.

This runs VMs, Sandstorm runs OS containers. Apps for Sandstorm might need a little work to integrate with Sandstorm's model for users and permissions, but apps in Portal won't have a built-in mechanism for sharing documents/

I interpreted this design as a microphone only, not something that also emits sound. I could be totally wrong though.

I don't think Sandstorm wants to be a platform on which you host your large user-facing app. Instead it wants to be the platform on which you can install your personal wiki, ipython notebooks, your streaming media library, etc. You as

Sure, you could write an app that does A/B testing, but the whole idea is that people will use Sandstorm to run _personal_ servers/apps. And A/B testing your own reaction to an app doesn't make much sense. Runtime permis

I would like to design my next side-project to be decentralised and federated, giving people the option to run it on their own hardware. It's a small step in the right direction, I think, and it makes me feel slightly happier about the

Interesting, thanks for the link. It seems like a highly useful material, but the fact that this is not a consumer product limits its practicality a lot. I would love to have my complete apartment coated and do it myself.
