For better or worse, every startup has an open plan office like this. The new breed of 22 year old software engineers do not appear to be negatively affected. Joel and Peopleware need to do a re-assessment using younger people who grew up w

Bank of America in NYC is a different entity from B of A in California. Same with Wells Fargo. The accounts are geographically tied to the state in which they were opened. Chase is probably set up the same way.

The common complaint is that he's ok, but needs an editor. However, he is an awful writer. An honest editor would tell him to give up.

I was probably not adding to the quality of life, but I used to really enjoy driving around downtown Manhattan at night. FWIW, there were few signs of life down there after 10pm.

One thing I've noticed about the latest tech bubble is that nobody has any hobbies, besides going out to restaurants and maybe (no offense) bicycles. In the past bubble it seemed like 65% of the programmers were artists or musicians and had

If the apartment really looks like the photo, the poster does not and will never have a girlfriend. Bed frame and at least a love seat are a must for dating, even in San Francisco.

It's not really that bad, as far as these types of articles go. The opinion column staff at the NYT churns out a worse article nearly every day.
