Sure, but it's more like Tesla would buy Uber, not Uber would rocafella out and buy Tesla, along with the roads. Plus, outside of SF, Uber isn't really taking off.

Yeah, it can be interesting but often times it's almost the same sort of thing as any lousy computing job on a day to day basis, it just pays worse, with weird academic attitudes and bureaucracy tacked on. Plus, when I did it you were

calling all data scientists - why not consider becoming a computational biologist? The pay is shit, you're at the whim of the funding moods of the day, and contrary to your last statement most of the results don't really ever go

Coffee shops already do the no wifi thing. There's no wifi at Blue Bottle, 4 Barrel, Sightglass, etc.

Not to defend the TSA, but most part time hourly jobs have variable schedules like that. I've even worked high paying sysadmin jobs that were like that.

I would NEVER buy a screencast, tutorial, or anything on web development without knowing EXACTLY when it was last updated Sadly that's exactly why the last updated date usually isn't listed.

US education is inconsistent. At my school, we never had to read Swift, or many of the other books that seem to be considered canonical "high school" literature.

Any time I check a bag, something is stolen from it. I guess I'm supposed to be thankful the TSA has the consideration to leave one of those little "TSA went through your bag" memos with a disconnected phone number to call to

It seems like working for the NSA is more like working at Inintech than it is like Minority Report. I've been more embarrassed by how Office Space retarded this seems than I have about the privacy abuses. I'm skeptical any of thes

In high school I worked in a summer school program for the children of migrant farm workers. I used to be a math tutor at an after school program for Somali immigrants. There are a lot of volunteer tutoring programs.

I'm not sure that is a given. Maybe Australian prisons are nice. You could make the same joke about the USA and it would unfortunately be closer to the truth. I'd rather get sent to jail in Mexico than one in Arizona.

Can't tell if srs. My grandpa got about 5K refugees into the country over his lifetime. Minnesotans are into that sort of thing. Try contacting http://www.iimn.org if you're really into this idea. They could at least s

Are you in Singapore? This doesn't make sense - you say you live in a Muslim country? I know Singapore is socially strict, but I thought it was secular. Singapore is big on social harmony. There are laws against offending other cultu

Visual programming is used in a few widely used ETL tools and it's not that much fun if you know how to program. Max/MSP and Pd are fun, though.

Getting into an Ivy League program is pretty hard. Unless you're starting Microsoft or Facebook it seems like a wasted opportunity if you didn't follow through with it. It really opens up a lot of doors you wouldn't have with

Well I was a different sort of programmer before. That is just the going rate for ios programmers in NYC these days, I think. If you've never programmed before $60k is a good rate but even then you can move up in salary really quickly

They focused on him because he actually found a job. Most 58 year olds facing involuntary retirement do not. "Man can't find job, has $20K/yr to live on until he's dead" does not make for a very inspiring story.

It involves a bit more, you have to take orders, keep tabs on the dining room, run around balancing a bunch of stuff, interact with people, smile at patrons and smile at the sous chef who calls you a whore or a queer every time you pick up.
