This seems absurd and unreasonable once you look at it more closely. If any group of people say they want to go live apart from others (white, gay, men, linux users, whatever), I'm fine with that. I wouldn't want to live in a rac

Makes sense. I'm only familiar with the paranoid VTR SCIFs and the plywood-and-tent SCIFs (downrange), not so much with how contractors handle C/S/TS in CONUS.

M4 barrels are 1:7. Civ rifles seem to be 1:7 to 1:9. (civ are more likely to use 55gr still; military is 62gr, and there are people using 77gr...) I hate the forward assist, but not enough to delete it. I mostly use an X95 SBR (13")

Curious where a cubicle wall would be considered necessary and sufficient isolation, even assuming people cleared to the sufficient level and on the same project. Seems like you'd either say ntk exists or not, so either shared workspa

I'm fine with open offices with tiny teams all working on exactly the same task. Once that ceases to be the case, they become hell. My ideal office is essentially private regular office space, and then big conference rooms which can b

Kind of awesome that you can get it in SFBA (Berkeley) at Tokyo Fish Market for $80/pound (which is expensive, but you don't use that much . Grown in Half Moon Bay. Other US growing locations are Oregon and Washington State.

I hate essentially all of San Francisco (so I am biased), but Adam’s Point, Rockridge, Jack London, and a few other neighborhoods are ok in Oakland. Berkeley is the really underrated place, IMO. Somehow they went from being the city with th

It's still pretty rare to have a private jet which can do transpacific flights -- particularly since it's usually to/from specific gateway cities, too. CX, SQ, JL, QR, EK F is more comfortable than a fractional-ownership G65

Wow. That thing looks amazing! I'd probably rather have something like the Surefly (hybrid electric octocopter, largely autonomous) for boring commuting, but this looks like an amazingly fun vehicle for recreational riding.

Wow, I actually didn't know they were different. (I assumed scheduled air cargo would be the same rules as scheduled pax). I see Congress tried to harmonize back in 2012/2013 but it didn't happen. I guess it makes sense for

There are pretty good rules around crew rest and sleep requirements. Too early to rule anything out, but it wouldn't be terribly high on my list as a sole factor. Generally aviation accidents require a multiple serious problems (whic

The correct response is generous severance to the employees who sign this letter. If a US company doesn’t participate in the defense of the US, it is going to be basically unsustainable to get any immigration permitted for technology employ

I wonder if one could claim autism or ASD as a way to get a decent private office with a door as an ADA/EOE thing. (I've done something right in my life that one of our office buildings was built with not-soundproof-enough walls o

We absolutely should make extensive use of robotics on their own and as preparation for manned missions. Stuff like sending ships and fuel factories in advance of people, to place fully-fueled ships for return missions, habitations, etc. f
