Terrorist groups don’t have formal rosters the way sports teams do. It is sort of like “former intelligence officer”. It is definitely a strong argument (strengthened by time and distance separation, degree of clear separation or renuncia

I believe it is 1) different venue for trial (administrative vs a criminal case) and possibly 2) different standard of proof, especially for non permanent residents. (Not a lawyer nor an immigration expert on US law, though.)

Obviously, being granted a visa to visit a country as a foreign person is a privilege under law; this is totally different from restrictions placed on citizens (or persons legally present in the country). This would be terrible if applied

Their content creator tools are shit. No integration with anything people use, and they are pretty buggy. They are capricious censors. I’d be fine with a platform articulating an arbitrary censorship policy and then following it. They don’t

This is great; it's basically either 1) an alternative to Patreon for developers (which is something I have always wanted to exist) or 2) an alternative to Patreon for Patreon creators who are the tiniest bit intelligent and able to ac

I've spent months in both Paris and SF. I hate walking around SF, and enjoy walking around Paris, at least in the 1st-8th. Density is a feature for walking. Paris isn't perfect, but also has fewer piles of human excrement in th

I wonder if a viable H-1B reform would be a mix of a much higher cash wage floor (maybe indexed by geography, but $80-100k across the US, and $150-200k in a place like SF or NY), a requirement that they be hired by firms with at least n (=1

I think it's also a lot worse in politics, in that you might reasonably have someone try to entrap you purely for political reasons. There are "politics" in commercial and academic settings too, but not usually played at the

I don't necessarily think accepting this kind of interim CEO thing is the worst possible call for a company sometimes, but it's definitely not something I'd want to publicize even after the fact as the "CEO", VC fir

I'd be a lot sadder if I'd scraped and taken loans and graduated the previous year from that school with a lot of debt. Even worse if you rushed through and graduated early or something (maybe to save money?).

The distribution of who has children seems highly dysgenic -- the smartest and overall "fittest" women (in particular) have children late (and thus few), if at all. This is almost always an individually-optimal choice at the time.

I wonder what a stock portfolio based on shorting companies who sign contracts with IBM India, Accenture, Wipro, etc. for outsourcing would look like in terms of performance. Probably too much of a leading indicator to be truly useful.
