I love One Medical as a "walk in" option when visiting SFBA, Seattle, NYC, etc. For the discounted annual membership fee (available through various programs), it's even easier, even if I only use them once a year on average.

You could buy $100m in bitcoin over a few weeks without causing >5% move in the price. (not as a single market order, obviously). Probably not even a 1% move in the price over 2 weeks.

Interesting USG shibboleths are using the correct acronyms, especially for insider stuff (TDY, "allowances", "authorities", and referring to NSA as NSA and not "the NSA", CIA as CIA and not "the CIA",

Curious why there isn't a Founders Series on this car -- full prepayment (on a loaded config) for first-in-line position, which helps them with cashflow (a major issue for Tesls).

I agree when SMS 2FA is strictly in addition to a password, and the phone number isn’t used for account recovery (or marketing), it is theoretically no worse than just a password. The problem is it still with great 2FA, and the kind of sit

What amazed me was just how fast people adapt to crazy stuff. I went to some of the COPs briefly in Afghanistan and once got stuck there for 5 days when it was supposed to be just overnight. Day 2-3 was pretty bad (but I didn't want

An extra weird thing for me (as a contractor and pretty "free range", since it was in-theater awarded, and multiple parallel contracts) was I could be at a party in the IZ, then sitting in the back of an old BMW with just a Hi Po

Basing things on soldiers sending letters home doesn't seem generally likely to show a very unbiased view, either. Almost everyone I knew in Iraq/Afghanistan would send only very sanitized letters (well, emails, generally) home,

I've been waiting for Atomic Vapor Isotope Separation (AVLIS or MLIS or SILEX) to let a small group or small state produce their first nuclear weapon basically outside the current nonproliferation controls.

My 17 is from some years ago. I fly through NRT or KIX or HND multiple times a year of something interesting at duty free over the past 20 years and tend to buy a bottle each trip to stockpile or give as gifts. My standard purchase now is

I don't want to sit in a priority seat because some disabled/etc. people (including someone who appears healthy but has some hidden health problem, etc.) has to actually ask you to get up, etc. Male vs. female is a societal thing.

I'd never sit in the last or even last 10% or so of seats on a subway train, as a healthy middle-aged man who isn't escorting a child or something. I'd also be highly suspect of a man who did that, and would be reluctant to

The Costco in Iceland is amazing. 150% of US prices, vs. 300-400% everywhere else. In Hawaii (cost) and Puerto Rico (cost and quality) it is pretty amazing, too. In Puerto Rico there is basically no other good supermarket; the next best a

A human can be...20x bigger than a small cat/dog, easily. It's not that usual for animals to eat something that much bigger than them. Much more common among carrion scavengers, but still kind of notable.
