I'm just trying to give examples, not set up a dichotomy. There's certainly a very wide range of ways to be charitable. For example, you could be charitable in this discussion by not lampooning those who disagree you as "tunn

I don't see how this is any different. Where does the proposition, "do good directly, with your own mind and hands", lead? Should the first step not be "consider who is most in need"? Should the next stop not be &qu

DST is nearly 8 months of the year. Making it permanent is a smaller move than abolishing it. "Standard time" is just a name. Daylight time is actually more "standard" from the perspective of most Americans.

There is no link. Segmentation of ECC support was an Intel decision which other chip manufactures have copied to a greater or lesser extent. For what it's worth, ECC support is spotty in Chinese-designed chips as well. Intel's dec

That's true, but it takes more than one example of confusion to justify the label "ambiguous." Otherwise the label would have no meaning; it could be applied to anything that had ever caused anybody confusion, which is everyt

There are many ambiguous date formats, but this is not one of them. Four digits, delimiter, two digits, delimiter, two digits always means year, month, day, no matter where you are in the world[0]. Well, except in Kazakhstan, but only when

I didn't mean it that way. I meant to point out that you're stuck between a rock and a hard place whether you're a GNOME user or Windows 10 user. It's possible to stop updating, but you probably can't, because y

My bias is definitely to agree with this sentiment, but I'm going to play devil's advocate: Windows 10 automatically updates itself, which is a reasonable thing for a consumer operating system to do. It happens to be a very "

OpenJDK does support AAarch64 for JDK 8 onwards[0]. Available as part of Ubuntu 18.04 as well[1]. I've used it quite a bit, and for the most part it's slightly faster than it was on x86_64 (though how much of this is due to JIT di

So, to restate the problem as you see it: There is currently some overlap between games that include humiliation-encouraging mechanics and games that are popular as e-sports. There should be zero overlap; those games should not be played pr

You're not comparing apples to apples. E-sports leagues will penalize you if you audaciously disrespect your opponents. Also, the majority of the most popular e-sports don't include extreme game play distractions like kill cams.

I really hate this hack. It feels like an attempt by distro maintainers to make their distro feel and/or benchmark quicker than others. I don't know if that's the original reason it was done, but I do know that it's a bi

I don't think the guarantees you've numbered 1, 2, or 3 are true. Insofar as the package uses the standard mechanism for installing files, sure, it can guarantee that. But I don't believe it hooks a tracer up to the installer

This isn't how I'd describe the guarantees provided by a package manager. In fact, most package managers don't really provide any guarantees at all; almost all of them support something like preinst.sh and postinst.sh scripts
