"job loss" is purposefully passive to remove culpability from the entity (Amazon) that is making the active choice to terminate these people's jobs. It's the same as language like "officer involved shooting" to

There's definitely an uncanny valley with a lot of AI. But also, it's entirely likely that lots of what we're reading is AI generated and we can't tell at all. This post could easily be AI (it's not, but it could be

The majority of drivers DON’T know how to change gears. You are simultaneously saying that something is not expert level knowledge while acknowledging that most people don’t know it. Strange.

What IS Sky? Their landing page is just about the acquisition and I can't infer much from the OpenAI announcement.

Genuine question - why is taking benefits away from the poorest among us the only answer? Corporations and the wealthy upper crust have made record profits YoY for like a decade now. But we can only find the money by taking it away from peo

Is it me or has there been an enormous uptick in usage of the word "truly" lately? It's starting to give me AI smell anytime I see it. > these AI-browsers do truly bring value Do they? Truly? > a single Big Tech Winner

Again, super interesting thanks! > One area that I have been spending a lot of time thinking about is what Tokenization looks like if we start trying to represent 'higher order' concepts without using human vocabulary for them.

If AWS goes down unexpectedly and never comes back up it's much more likely that we're in the middle of some enormous global conflict where day to day survival takes priority over making your app work than AWS just deciding to aba

Great explanation, thanks. I was surprised to hear that models still only work with ~100k tokens, but after giving it some thought it makes sense. There's only so many words/subword units that get used in any given language. The e

I would much, much rather provide discreet APIs directly to the LLM via MCP than just tell it to hit the api and figure it out from the docs.

Seems like that’s it? You give it a knowledge base of “skills” aka markdown files with contexts in them and Claude figures out when to pull them into context.

I don’t really see how this replaces MCP tbh. MCP gives the LLM access you your APIs. These skills are just text files with context about how to perform specific tasks.

So these skills are effectively JIT context injections. Is that about right?
