I guess just depends on how you define edge case. > I need a bathroom in my house (Goes to the bathroom 4 times a day and room sits empty 99% of the time) I agree with you on the trucks one though, but only because of the outsized nega

What am I missing here? Web browsers are already GUIs, and any backend with an api supports it.

Exactly. Im in git history all the time. But the messages themselves…eh. Im basically always looking for a change in a specific file or set of files, and then I just pull up the diffs.

I think I would prefer this style. And also the discourse around commit messages and their various flavors may be one of the biggest wastes of time in terms of ROI in our industry. I’ve been doing this for 14-15 years and can probably count

This site is overwhelmingly anti trump though. In the corpus of global communities this tends to be an extremely accepting and courteous one, from what I can tell over the last 13 years being on here.

I do the same. Maybe I’m just obtuse but I find this site to basically be the most civil, well meaning, and courteous place on the internet. Never understood the problems people have here.

It’s unclear what you’re asking. Do you want investment strategies, or are you asking about living on $360k? (Which would be very comfortable anywhere in the US)

I didn’t say anything about money. Why are people talking about money I’m not pretending anything. I’m just making a statement about what might happen. I don’t personally care much one way or the other.

Exactly. An enormous database of generic, unmoderated text descriptions. Basically any question you ask will be “covered” by some trademark description somewhere. Not to mention that the cost and scale of checking every query against that e

> Likewise, how difficult is it to just use descriptive tools to describe Mario-like images [1] and then remove these results from anyone prompting for "video game plumber"? This approaches impossibility at scale.

creation <> competition. I agree with your premise but the chess analogy falls flat. We might, legitimately, see an enormous dropoff in people creating original works of literary, musical, and visual art (without AI).

REST is the “agile” of API design. Everyone says they do it, but everyone does it a little differently, and nobody adheres to the actual definition (because the actual definition is far too prescriptive to be fully applicable in reality)

While I appreciate the effort and apparent transparency - there is absolutely no way that companies can self-regulated themselves in the longterm or even mediumterm. As the board/sama drama has already shown, there are lots of conflict

There was never a time when the industry “knew what it was doing”. Everything you described was exactly the same 20 years ago. Nor is any of it specific to the software industry. It’s just normal experimentation and churn, driven by capital
