At least my understanding was that popular definitions of metaverse include some type of “reality-based” technology like AR or VR.

There are two related concepts: liquidity and solvency. When a bank accepts deposits and loans some of those deposits out, i.e. fractional reserve banking, it is exchanging a liquid position (cash) for an illiquid position (the loan). Howev

The water analogy is thus: everyone who dies drinks water, but lots of people drink water and don't die, therefore water is unlikely to be the cause of death. However, some estimate that over half of U.S. banks are insolvent. That'

Is Roblox really considered the metaverse? I feel like it's just an MMO with a game editor. Not that different than many other games with custom game editors. It feels like a stretch to call this a paradigm shift.

The U.S. has definitely done many immoral things. But I don't think that's because the U.S. is particularly immoral. People are immoral, in general, and many are willing to do terrible things to advance their own personal situatio

What value is an open standard if it can only be useful if you use an implementation from a large corporation. It’s a basic fact that email is only useful if your intended recipient can receive your message. If corporate gatekeepers are res

And Google has such a dominant position in the marketplace that your only choice is to use Google (or a handful of other large providers). That was the thesis: E-mail is an open standard dominated by large corporations.

Why? You can group 30 into sets of 3 (3 x 10), but 30 is still even, so your definition of odd doesn't hold.

It impacts email as a standard because Google is a gatekeeper of what is supposed to be an open standard.

You can run an LLM in your browser now. Pretty sure even a low parameter LLM is more than capable of detecting spam. And thats not even considering more specialized approaches.

It’s not because there are infinite decimals between every two decimal numbers. That applies to the rational numbers too, e.g. there are infinite rational numbers between 1/2 and 3/4. Rather, the real numbers are more dense in a w

Git is great. It’s FOSS, but that doesn’t mean it’s immune to a hostile corporate takeover. Take email for example. It’s an open standard, yet it’s usage is dominated by large corporate players.

Generally, I agree, it isn't very complicated to understand. But, it's very easy to forget to buy a C ticket if you're used to hopping on the U-bahn with your monthly AB ticket.

I think the first step would be to buy a second monitor, ideally from a different manufacturer, and verify that your readings are actually correct. My experience is that cheap monitors are basically random.
