That’s true, but you have to interpret the state changes from your table/row schema. Why not just update the DB and then publish an event?

I don’t thin AOP is specific to static languages. From my understanding, the “aspect” part implies the ability to “hook into” and extend an application at specific “cut points”, which are typically pre/post function/method calls.

I think you are being completely unfair here. AOP in Java (and .NET) is a metaprogramming facility that has few equivalents in other languages. The closest thing that comes to it is macros, but those are often compile time modifications.

You are making assumptions about people that you shouldn’t - that’s my point. I was working full time as a Software Engineer and was a new father while I was going to school. My ability to learn outside of the school’s curriculum was limi

That’s dumb. I’m not asking for a professor to read to me. I’m asking for the school to provide a curriculum that introduces me to these subjects since I PAID them to educate me. Cryptography was not introduced/required for my CS de

This is how I feel when people start talking about cryptography. Definitely feel my university underprepared me on this topic. :(

- we’ve stopped using ^ and ~ because of the unpredictability of third party libraries and their authors’ potential for causing our own apps to break. We also find ourselves forking and managing our own versions of smaller/less popula

If you’re late to standup 3 days a week, I’d consider that quite unprofessional.

This is a great reply. If you don’t use classes to define behavior for objects that manage their own state, there’s no point in using OOP.

I entered the job market from the military around that time. The only employers calling me back were government contractors (despite having really great scores on Brainbench and other technical evaluation platforms). Opportunity seemed to

Exactly - I deployed a k8s cluster with eksctl in about 10 min. Deployed all my services within another 10min (plain Helm charts).

Really? If someone told me they were going to write all the glue code that basically gets you the same thing a UI deployment of k8s and a couple yaml files can provide, I’d walk out.

1000%. If you take a little bit of time to learn k8s and run it on a hosted environment (e.g. EKS), it’s a fantastic solution. We are much happier with it than ECS, Elastic Beanstalk, etc.

How is this the best/most flexible approach? What if you decide to move from REST to GQL? GQL to websockets? By mocking the HTTP endpoint you’re too low in the stack. At that point, I feel like you might have better success with u

100% agree. I feel like you could do the same with a mocking library and good abstractions. At the end of the day, you still have to simulate the backend API. I would love to see front end developers adopt Domain Driven Design.

The event loop is single threaded. Async tasks are executed on I/O threads which are configurable. So if your app is I/O bound, the event loop will typically dequeue tasks pretty quickly allowing lots of requests.

Is it really only 4? When I look at my VM stats I seem to recall it having something like 15. Of course, this could be a config change on the Node Alpine container.

Lol - I don’t think I’ve ever met someone as enamored with Joi as I am. I think I abuse it in all the same ways as you do. I even publish my Joi schemas for request validation with my API specifications.
