> If a SNES game, for perfect emulation, requires higher than per-line synchronization, it was not properly written That's the whole point. There are games that did crazy stuff, and don't work well on many emulators. Perfect emulation r

Of course the second email sounds better: it's an entirely different message. Email #1 says: "If you want to work from home, ask for permission with an explanation." Email #2 says: "If you want to work from home, let us know when." Email #1

I wish there were ido-style searching, where typing "slstr" would match "some long string". (Provided, of course, there were no other strings that were a closer match.)

What is the reasoning behind this? It sounds like this would encourage people to pirate more games. Perhaps now that it's free, they won't feel an obligation to provide support?

CSS works fine. (Try this one: https://raw.github.com/twitter/bootstrap/master/docs/index.h... ) I suspect that JS that didn't depend on the page-load to trigger it would work too. I had never considered looking at JS-enabled pages though.

His headset analogy is pretty accurate. It even goes one step further though: In China, some headsets have the mic and ground pin swapped. So before putting a signal on the mic line to see if it exists, you have to detect which pin is groun

Not really. You only need to space out the levels by a few ohms. Microphone impedances start around 500 ohms, so if you go higher than that, you can't distinguish between a button and a working mic.

The linked answer is close, but not entirely correct. There isn't a specialized wire for buttons; it uses the microphone line. Play/pause will usually be connected directly to ground. The other functions connect to ground through different
