DynDNS is my registrar of choice, and they do a very good job of making management easy. However, their DNS services are most definitely NOT free as is EveryDNS. It'll be interesting to see if that changes or not.

This cannot be stated enough. Punishing your money-paying customers for actions perpetrated by people that aren't your customers will do one thing: leave you with fewer customers. I have not watched a movie in at least a couple years now w

The usual caveat applies: no support in IE for the next ten years. I would love to have that date picker universally supported now.

I bought the mouse if for no other reason that it duplicated most of my trackpad's functionality when I'm plugged into an external monitor. I'm exclusively a laptop user, so I've used nothing but trackpads for years, but plugging into a 30

The lesson here is to never answer such questions. It's akin to having your company acquired by another, being asked to teach everything to the other company's guys, and then being fired.

While I like the idea, when building a cord into the wall, it should be of a gauge that can support the maximum current of the breaker installed. I don't know what European plugs are (pictured), but US ones are typically 20 amps. It takes

My point is that building a prototype that won't render correctly in IE (i.e., the browser likely in use by the commissioning client) as it's described in that article is counter-productive. If the client can't see it as it's intended, wha

Nearly every selector used in that mockup either: 1. Flat-out doesn't work in Internet Explorer; or 2. Requires certain hacks to align Internet Explorer's rendering with more compliant browsers. I can understand how it's much nicer to have

I do agree that View Source is becoming less and less useful, particularly because of JavaScript-injected DOM elements. Safari's web inspector in particular has become invaluable for this reason. Being able to see the current state of any

I am a photographer, and I've had inquiries for this. No one is willing to pay more than a few dollars, which doesn't even offset the time required or the depreciation of the equipment.

The biggest benefit of blocks over function pointers to me, though, is that the code resides exactly where it's being called. Function pointers have a nasty habit of not necessarily doing the same. While the syntax is a bit wonky at first

There's another reason for email quotas. The versions of Outlook in use by many companies use a PST (Outlook's data file format) format that totally breaks when it reaches 2 GB. Fixing it requires either truncating part of the file and fo

The easiest way I've found for communication outside is with the ethernet shield. I have some motion sensors that phone home to a central server via a network connection and it works very well. I used a wall wart for those.

Paypal has one of the worst APIs I've ever used. It's a useful model of what to avoid, particularly its multiple formats and its flakey and often outdated sandbox testing servers.

Yeah, Quickbooks sucks, but a totally web-based option is not better. There is no substitute for locally-run software for many things and accounting software is one of them for me.
