For some I'm sure it is, but I believe there's another facet to it: waste. A lot of tax revenue is totally wasted, and while some is almost certainly inevitable in an organization as large as the government, I strongly feel that n

Not on that kind of connection, but I can rarely successfully download something that large from the App Store on the first attempt. I've found it far better to get from the tools area of the developer member center.

Thick plywood can handle a lot. My dad is a general contractor and uses sheets of 1 1/2" plywood to prevent his forklift (~24,000 lbs) from sinking into soft ground. At that weight a single sheet (per tire) crunches a little, but

Depends on your definition of extra large, I suppose. I've gone as big as about 10 megapixels in my implementations with it and it's held up. The big problem with iOS image handling has always been the pitiful amount of RAM on the

I've had sort of a different theory on that. When explaining something from my field to someone without the background and knowledge needed to understand the precise terms, I reduce the explanation to terms and context that they'r

I recently started using PHPStorm for some of my PHP coding. They have an interesting hybrid purchase model that I consider very fair. The way it works is that there's a monthly subscription to start using it. While you're paying

If you want a really good example, the northern lights are a good one. The majority of the color is something you cannot see with your eye because it's too dim for the cones to pick up. A camera doesn't have this limitation. See:

I'm actually in the hiring process at a place currently, and their process is reasonable for someone in my position coming from freelance: 1. Phone screen amounting to about 45 minutes. 2. Skype interview with small code samples betwee

Definitely, but I can personally attest to that being much more effective when the number of apps was 10% of what it is now. Most of the old marketing channels are gone with little replacing them.

Unfortunately, that's only half the battle. Just telling potential customers about the app is incredibly difficult, particularly with the very broken state of App Store search.

It is for those that leave their debug logging enabled. A lot of code I've seen uses CocoaLumberjack[0] or something similar, which makes it easy to turn that off for production builds. [0]: https://github.com/CocoaLumb

In my experience I have usually been told if someone else beat me out (usually phrased as "We're moving forward with another candidate who is a better fit"). While it's possible, I don't think it was the case here.

In the US, Utah is very similar. Some places will sell you a "sidecar" shot with a mixed drink, but a lot won't. Hard alcohol is measured electronically to ensure it is exactly one ounce.

At the risk of downvotes, why can't you? At some level, personal responsibility must come into play. There's a limit on how much you can protect people from themselves, though where that limit is can be a very political topic.
