The nice thing about how I wrote Kinto is that it supports numerous Terminal applications and the Cmd key location becomes Ctrl+Shift+(the_key_press), so you effectively have everything you'd want without needing contort your fingers f

As a general user or a developer, I want Linux and Windows to type and work like a Mac. As a developer I want terminals, code editors and any other commonly used dev related applications to have the same keymaps as macOS out of the box. As

There's a link to the Table of Contents near the very top of the Readme right after the basic and short description. I prioritized the info to make it a little faster to get up and running versus the need to scroll past an ever increas

I agree with probonopd on many things, but I will concede that the benefits of this rewrite for hidpi and likely other features is needed. The dependencies for things may shift more however to the DE layer and that is ok - but it will make

So let's not convince you, you can still experience what it is like to have a potentially better hotkey layout via my project if you want to try it out. https://github.com/rbreaves/kinto

That's a convention per the app mostly and apps on macOS just don't need to use it.

Checkout my project before going around and remapping all of your keys.. Kinto doesn't do anything like that. It will actually do all of the remappings you want via a single config file that you can easily add on to if you really need

Heh, their app was the only IDE I went in and added support for when it came to porting macOS keybinds over to Windows and Linux lol. I had no idea they have grown to be so popular and are fully owned still by the original founders. I have

Maybe you should try out the Ubuntu Budgie distro with my http://kinto.sh project added to handle your key mappings. I've tried countless distros and it is the most mac like experience you will find. EnsoOS would follow it,

I feel like Ubuntu has literally been the user friendly Linux desktop OS for ages now. I don’t really know what all else competes w/ it because in my view nothing has really toppled it since its introduction. Pop_OS! is impressive, as

It is time intensive to fix the odds & ends that Linux distros often haven’t. Kinda wish the author of the article would have taken a little more time learning about how easy it is to setup new keybinds in Kinto.sh (xkeysnail).

You will definitely want to backup your existing hotkeys on your DE and then try out Kinto.sh. Otherwise Kinto will assume that you are using default keymaps of the DE/distro. I will admit.. at some point adding in the logic to pull in

Thanks for the referral! I am the author of Kinto and just made a major update to it a few days ago. It now has a system tray, gui and a simple setup wizard for Linux users as of v1.2. The system tray only works for DEs that support Appindi

Earlier bug existed in Catalina that also resulted in instability & crashes. For me the resolution was to remove 2 VMware related agents from startup. Vmware accelerated gfx still functioned correctly.
