Surely this is just normal for a big country. USA, China, Brazil, Indonesia, Russia. There are some outliers - Germany, Japan, France, but they're stagnant with falling populations as people want to leave them. There are also some smal

Its interesting that he mentions short job tenures. I always thought it was weird how common job hopping is in the Bay Area, I thought job-hopping employees was perhaps a good thing rather than a problem. It does mean its easier to build a

You might want to look at other corporates esp banks. There are usually lots of people moving from London to NY and back again.

Creating a startup is very tough, If you have a great job I'd be careful. If you can I'd try to do something small as a side project first and see how much money you can make. A lot of people here are good coders but have no clue

Big banks a such an easy target these days. Everyone in hates them and politicians love that because they can extract big fines. win-win-win. Until all the banks go under at least - US banks are mostly solvent still, European ones look like

Agreed its usually quantity over quality. California is perhaps freshest and tasiest in the nation, with the healthier lifestyles, local farms and Mexican influence. You should try the midwest.

I bought a second hand Xeon E3-1246 v3 (8 VCPU), 16GB memory for $250 on ebay. That's less than it costs to rent an a1.xlarge for 6 months. Hardware is so cheap now, esp with SSDs and memory getting cheaper. Don't automatically re

You're right, it also highlights another of the problems, the new insects cause more problems than the old ones they're replacing. Seems we lose stable populations of friendly insects we're familiar with, and replace them wit

Honestly I hate these self-absorbed, live-is-tough posts by Software Developers doing creative work in a nice air conditioned office. Get a real job, try milking a few hundred cows at 6am, work as a cop in a bad city, or outside in construc

Presumably this is to pay for all the points people get by using cards, not to mention the sign up promotions. I like how in Europe and Australia interchange fees are capped. Even if it means they live without such bountiful premium cards.
