Nixe article! As much as I love mongoDB, when reading articles like this I really get the urge to think about how my data might fit into riak, cassandra or elastic search. I really dislike architectures that force the setup and monitoring o

The idea of lua integration reminds me of Tokyo Tyrant. Ilya Grigorik wrote a nice article about Tokyo+Lua back in the day: http://www.igvita.com/2009/07/13/extending-tokyo-cabinet-db-... Love the idea of server-side code

While designing a webcrawler I found out how a LOT of sites are reachable using www.example.com and not using example.com. Some browser just tend to try the www. prefix if they can't connect/resolve the non-www one. This is why nobody fin

docraptor.com uses princexml which theoretically could not only do HTML, but any XML based format. Prince does however include a default style sheet for XHTML and HTML seems to be the only input that docraptor accepts. Not sure what happens

I think I'd really enjoy the read. It would have been a bit nicer if the great comments were accompanied by some good design/typesetting (generate latex?) and an alternative format (epub). There are a few solutions based on princeXML that c

The BBC iPlayer website is pretty easy to fool. I just set up a squid proxy on a UK VPS and created a .pac file that redirects all bbc.co.uk requests. The final video stream won't be on that domain, so it will just go over the "normal

I wonder how they're doing this by just changing the DNS servers? Do they return their own IPs and run a man-in-the-middle kind of thing? UPDATE: Just signed up. They do actually seem to redirect the traffic from domains like hulu.com/p
