It's not that it's slop; it's that the important message itself is drowned out by the excessive prose. It's so exhausting to read AI generated comments, that's why it's so easy to spot them ffs.

@dang - HN tearing itself apart over use of AI isn't conducive to a strong cohesive community. Nobody here is at fault, we're in very trying times - we need to adjust with patience and consideration. Use of AI to launch rapid prot

Humans are better than AI at flagging AI and where they fail is where the content doesn't cause a "disgust" signal - so wouldn't it be useful instead to have a flag as AI feature?

Yeah. If it were a thing it would have happened by now. The friction to lock users down would be very bad for business.

Remember that OpenAI ran statistics on ChatGPT conversations and found development related conversations were in the low 10s https://openai.com/index/how-people-are-using-chatgpt/ - the people who enjoy rolling ev

Lots of money. Yes men everywhere. Needs more science and less popularity contest. I place my blame in the voters.

My opinion is it seems counter to what made Apple so successful in the first place: second mover advantage, see where everyone else fails and plug the gap. You're right on the liability front - Apple still won because everyone bought t

I don't want to believe you are right. Not that I refuse to... You could be wrong, hopefully. I'll just remain optimistic. It's good that critical thinking still exists to keep us all grounded. Edit: I think you meant to repl

Yes. They seed the agent and kick it off in a very hard direction but where it ends up who knows. Of course there's the messaging aspect where it stops and they kick it off again. Still, these systems are more agentic than earlier expr

Feedback loops. Like a mic. next to a speaker. Social media feed, prompting content, feeding back into ideas. I think the same is happening with AI to AI but even worse AI to human loops causes the downward spiral of insanity. It's int

I get where you're coming from but the "agency" term has loosened. I think it's going to keep happening as well until we end up with recursive loops of agency.

How many times have you noticed people confusing the name itself: ChatGBT, ChatGTP etc. We're the technical crowd cursed and blinded by knowledge.

Microsoft's quality control used to be: release a buggy new OS then forge a solid next release. Going backwards in stability is out of character.

The irony here is that the market is willing to pay for quality. I don't have time to deal with phone issues-it should just work so I can get on with my day. Hearing that Apple were dedicating time to stop features and go after stabili

So essentially, they need to turn quality around or suffer the thousand cuts of death like Intel? Although. These companies don't "die" - it's more the consumers end up being abandoned in favour of B2B?
