I agree with you on the network effects of eth having most developer mindshare, but one thing to keep in mind about lightning is that a lot of end-user channels are private, so if you're just counting the number of channels or liquidit

Bitcoin is the reason we have Ethereum in the first place, so I'm not sure if your statement is fair. ICOs were a pump-and-dump fad. DeFi is proving to be useful and there are already DeFi projects coming up on Bitcoin (rsk, sovryn) an

That's interesting, I feel like the fees I pay on coinbase pro are magnitude smaller than the ones I've paid with dexes with much lower slippage as well. I'm curious which dexes do you use? Any aggregators?

Do you need to pay millions of dollars for the enjoyment of looking at it? You can certainly do that with just a search query or a fake copy.

So are we trusting similarweb's data on Google itself? How trustworthy is it? How do they get their data? I've seen similarweb be off by magnitudes vs alexa for estimating traffic on some sites I own.

Majority of gas price spike comes from uniswap. Opensea which like one of the biggest nft marketplace is only responsible for 2% of the gas fees. You can see the gas guzzlers at https://etherscan.io/gastracker .

Unfortunately, current high gas prices make anything less than large defi transactions not worth it. Just transferring some ERC20 tokens cost like 15-20$, etc. EIP 1559 was supposed to make it more predictable, but with the eth2 speed-up to

You can use them without being affected by Bitcoin's volatility on the same kind of blockchains and smart contract platforms. And you can borrow stablecoins for your BTC without selling it.

You'd be surprised as to how many early holders sold at local maximums. And at the very least, that inequality can't be permanently maintained by printing more of it to give to the wealthy.

Exchanges could act as channel factories, for example, today they batch a bunch of withdrawals into a single transaction, there's really no reason why they couldn't simply open a channel for each person in that. It can be a third-

Nobody owns the "Bitcoin" name, people collectively decide which chaintip to call Bitcoin and that's it. The devs own "Bitcoin Core" which is just one implementation of the network.

They can't implement those changes uni-laterally, it would cause a hard-fork. In addition to devs and miners, you need users, network nodes and exchanges to agree to it as well. And even if that change were to go through, there will st
