My only advice is to get out one way or another. I'd try to convince your boss to lay you off (yay severance) and keep the subordinates. Either way if you were looking and they were doing lay offs sounds like a depressing place to work

You should consider stepping back and spending 25 or 50% time mentoring instead of coding. But what I've found is that it's REALLY hard to do something 20% without doing it 100%, so perhaps a few weeks (months) of NO coding, then

This is exactly my daughter, she thrived online when her teachers posted a weeks material at a time she'd be done by wednesday. She was so happy she could work at her own pace and didn't have to wait for other kids.

I'll never forget having a negatively productive programmer on my team. If he spent an hour on a PR it would take 1.5+ hours of work to get the PR into shape to merge by other people because it took so much explaining for this guy. It

I found an oven that had all the features I wanted... and internet. After verifying it did not require internet I bought it and it will never be connected. Who connects something that could burn your house down to the internet?!
